I watched the Video 125 DEV Heart of Wales line which features the NSTR system in it and I know it did show the drivers doing the token exchange thingy but I didn't quite hear what the drivers said to the signalman as they weren't clear.

I just want to know what the signalman and driver are meant to say when doing the token exchange and know what I have written is correct. From what I heard was something like this:

(driver phones signalman at tep and signalman picks up phone) "this is (signalbox name)"

Drivers response "hello there this is the driver of train (train number) I am inside the tep at (the passing loop name) I have put in the (previous section) token in the magazine may I withdraw the (next section) token?"

Signalman replies "(no or yes) you (can or cannot) proceed into the section"

driver replies "ok many thanks goodbye"

How old is the video? I only ask because if it was filmed back when the spring points were fitted then it's a 'very correct' version of what is said (i.e. overly precise, I've never heard reference to the TEP - just 'driver of [headcode] at [station]', followed by the bits relevant to the token. Since we've had the new points in there, the driver also has to confirm to the signaller that he has the correct indications for TPWS suppression and points set.

The video is from 1993/4 when the points set indicator took the form of 2 white lights like a position light signal and the points are hydraulic as well as no TPWS indicators on the stop boards.
