Has anyone else noticed that recently, TVMs are taking a very long time to issue ToD coupons? My last few ToD collections from London Overground East London Line TVMs have been slow, with the machine hanging for some time after entering the code with 'Please wait...'. These were booked with RSH and EastMidlandsTrains websites.

Also, the attached gem, which stayed seemingly forever, until I reinserted the card.

The Peterborough TVMs seemed to be up to their normal speed on Friday. Could it be a fault with the LO machines?

Sounds like those particular machines just need a reboot. If it were just looking up the ToD details that was slow I'd put fault with the data connection they're using, but if it's slow to notice you've removed the card from the reader (I think these things are usually connected over serial or USB), it does point to the local machine struggling.

Supermarket self-service tills get very sluggish like that if they're not rebooted regularly. Before some Tesco stores (maybe as a whole organisation) understood that they required regular maintenance, it wasn't unusual to stand at the tills, scan the item then stand and count the time before it put the item on the screen, noticed you'd placed the item in the bagging area then re-enabled the scanner for the next item. Repeat for every item!

I've had similar issues with the Southern card only ToD terminals. Very slow to respond occasionally.

I have noticed occasionally the more recent LO ToD's crash from time to time, I remember seeing one at Penge West which was frozen after a Oyster transaction. The older SHERE ToD's at LO stations tend to lose Oyster capability or lose the ability to sell by debit/credit card.
