Yep, coming down with Northern for the 1121 off Hartlepool to Sunderland (after the Newcastle diversions with NXEC) then doing the 1230 back to Hartlepool before Northern back.

Will be on some bigger GC moves later in the spring

Hi all,

Just a quick post LIVE from York's waiting room on platform 3. As I post this, 43257 and 43367 leave on the 0710 from York to London Kings Cross, leaving 20 minutes late for no known reason.

Eventually got my laptop to boot up successfully (dodgy HDD...), but I thought I'd go to the trouble of posting LIVE on the move! With any luck, I'll get a signal on the 0759 from York to Newcastle and post again!

Jolly good fun this, even if the Wi-Fi signal is a bit poor!

I'm told that the Virgin trains have the wifi installed but it's only for testing at the moment. I did try my iPod Touch earlier today and there were a few hidden networks around. I couldn't find any more details about them, let alone connect to them. But there was reasonable strength around the barriers so it could be some onboard ones.

The last time I caught a Pendolino, they were testing then. And that was two years ago.

Even FGW were going to jump on the bandwagon and install Wi-Fi to their HSTs. Sadly, this is not going ahead. Pity, now I've tried Wi-Fi with NXEC I would have found it extremely useful, especially since not all of us have Blackberrys and the like to access the Internet on the move as they seem to reckon.

Posting this from the 0725 Leeds to Newcastle this morning. It's not exactly fast, but for a free Wi-Fi connection it does just fine. Wouldn't have wanted to pay for it under GNER mind! I'm now a confirmed fan of on-board Wi-Fi!

Surely it could be fitted to Turbostars? I saw a bus (not a coach) in Edinburgh advertising on-board wifi.

The Edinburgh based ones are in fact the Comfort Delfro / Parks of Hamilton Scottish Citylink ones.

Yeah the stagecoach ones will (Stagecoach Fife to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee), but they haven't got phones in Fife yet, let alone the internet
