TOCs: Illegal Blacklisting Uncovered

Something many of us had suspected for some time, that some train operating companies had either colluded with, or themselves appointed a consulting firm to produce a 'do-not-hire' blacklist of former staff.

Despite an absolute refutation of it's existence by the MD of a Train Operating Company, it seems that people within the HR department knew otherwise.

Will be interesting to see the outcome of the RMT's initial data protection request. I can see some chequebooks being reluctantly dug out of TOCs head office cupboards quite soon

Presumably illegal under the Data Protection Act, as the Information Commissioner is investigating. I guess the employers should get permission before passing on personal details to a third party. This has been rumbling on for some time in the construction industry.

I read the article as saying "a train driver was on the construction industry blacklist." It doesn't actually mention tocs at all. For all we know the train driver originally worked in construction..

Well it must be true how many sacked staff or staff that have rocked the boat have made it back on to the rails only one that I know of and he had to make a few sacrifices and he still isn't were he would want to be !
When a lot of the time it's down to personality clash with a manager or the idiots that like to rule with fear livery named after famous girls toy !
