Hi

Does anybody know if freight companies have the same assessments as passenger companies?
Im wondering if somebody passed assessments for passenger but failed the DMI, would they skip the assessments should they apply for freight. Assuming they make the paper sift of course.

I'm pretty sure all TOCs/FOCs have the same assessments. Some require enhanced pass, others require standard. Some also incorporate some of their own additional assessments during the initial application stage I believe.

I don't see why you couldn't transfer them over. Best bet is speak to the relevant FOC and see what their requirements are.

The core assesments are all the same. There administered under licence by the various companies that use them be it the OPC or the toc / foc direct.

Some add extra pre assessment tests to cut the numbers prior to reading cv’s etc, others add extra tests at stage 1, this could be the driver fault finding test or mechanical comprehension.

Whoever does the tests has to put the results onto the national database so all parties can see candidates scores

Correct. As has also been said, some also have an extra test, for example, SWR use a report writing test as part of their stage one that a lot of other companies don’t. You can indeed transfer pass marks between TOCs too, although you’d have to sit any you haven’t done depending on that TOC/FOC’s Policy (enhanced pass required/extra assesment etc.).

The length of time your passes are valid for varies from 1 to 5 years depending on company too.
