I've been looking into trying to become a driver for the last couple of years and am based in the Northern tip of County Durham. I'm signed up for vacancy alerts (with Northern, First Group and LNER) and am a regular visitor to this site so think I would be made aware of most vacancies that would appear in my area..........

However I was wondering if I've missed anyone............I'm a lifeline down after failing the TEA occ with Metro so would like to be able to give it one final shot with whoever comes up next (there were quite a few jobs appearing in my area a few years ago but not so much recently?)

Am I missing any other local companies????

Which companies work out of Tyne Yard in Lamesley? That's the closest one to me - I'm happy to go TOC or FOC but I know very little about there.........?

Is FOC abbreviation for Freight Operating Company? Excuse the basic question!

DB Cargo definitely work out of Tyne Yard, I think Freightliner do too. GBRF also employ drivers in the North East but I think they’re based at Tyne Dock rather than Tyne Yard.

There’s also CrossCountry with a crew base in Newcastle and Grand Central with one in Sunderland, both advertise their vacancies through Arriva.

Many thanks - it seems the North East must be one of the prime locations for driving jobs (largely thanks to George Stephenson haha )
