Sometimes the change can be instant, literally overnight unlike the debranding done by most departing TOCs or retaining the old TOC name like SWR & Southeastern, obviously not to the whole fleet that some trains show the new TOC's name on the first day like LNER as LNER are continuing the VTEC livery as it is a short term franchise for only two years. Any more examples?

Anyone remember what were the following changes like - instant or debrand or retain previous TOC name?
Connex South Central to Govia SouthCentral
Connex South Eastern to nationalised South Eastern
NatEx East Anglia to Greater Anglia
NatEx East Coast to nationalised East Coast
NatEx Wales & Borders to Arriva Trains Wales

I used to take Thames Trains regularly in the past but can't quite remember the change to FGW (First can be rather slow rebranding unless it is essential such as intro of GWR brand to distance from FGW woes & development of TPE into a serious intercity service) that I think the change was pretty quick as the First logo did appear quickly on the Turbos as the TT name vanished. Maybe it was similar for Wessex Trains too?

In the overall history of the railway NSE was a short term stage. The former Southern region of BR basically ran three separate railways, referred to internally as the Southwestern, Central and Southeastern divisions. These were derived from the former privatised companies.
At privatisation they effectively just went back to the pre-NSE divisions in the south.

Cheers for that info.

Ah yes, thank you, now I remember that! This left behind just south central against the yellow, I thought that looked rather fugly.

Connex didn't seem to take branding seriously (running services understandably were far more important also the fleet got used intensively toing and froing between busy London terminuses) that their trains were rather old and the interiors seemed unchanged from NSE days also they weren't fortunate to receive anything like 442s at the time.
