To CIV or not to CIV

I think that’s showing the 15 minute station time and 8 minute transfer time and you’d be expected to book a Eurostar departure at least 35 minutes later than that.

Avanti sell Advance tickets to/from London International CIV on their website. Approx £2 dearer from Liverpool for instance, than for Euston only. Useful if raining as they include the tube transfer. The itinerary shows a much shorter transfer time than mentioned above. Useful to show at the barrier if delayed, even if not legally binding. I've attached mine for a future trip. No, I'm not catching a Eurostar with such a short transfer time but that's how it is framed.

That's interesting. I've played with the evening trains to Stafford and get a similar differential in fares. The itinerary I generated certainly figures the letters CIV quite prominently. The same fare is also available on the Forum's site, but I can't see any mention of CIV in the itinerary. I don't know what the actual tickets will say.

The Man in Seat 61 says however "Avanti West Coast currently looks as if it sells LNE fares, but it doesn't." I'm probably overthinking at this point.

I think I'm happy buying Advance tickets from London International (CIV) from Avanti. If we are delayed I think there may be more chance of their staff accepting these. I'm also encouraged by the experience of others on Advance tickets when Eurostar has been delayed. Thanks everyone.

The fact that I have a ticket with 'CIV' gives me confidence in the case of an argument even if the legal standing is debatable. I only have to test this once, 10+ years ago when blizzards halted British, French and Belgian trains. I was stuck in Brussels overnight but had no problem with Virgin the next day.
