Titanic Exhibition in London.....Somewhere

Anyone with any clue about this? My interested has been piqued, but they've been advertising it on Facebook for months, have been selling tickets, its on from February, apparently, yet they still have not announced a venue, apart from that it will be in "An exhibition space in the heart of London" (whatever that means). That's not much use to me, as I need to know where it is so I know what it's going to take to get there. It's all very bizarre if you ask me.

Yes, very informative and helpful of them(!).

Last time this was on in London I think it was at the Dome and the time before that it was at Greenwich Maritime Museum. It'll need somewhere with quite a bit of space... might be worth searching venues which hold short term events and see if they have anything ending in January. It could possibly be the Turbine Hall at the Tate Modern; their current exhibition, the one with the floating balloon thingys, finishes on 16th January and their website doesn't say what's following that.

Apparently this particular exhibition has only been in Spain before. I doubt it would be at the Tate, because it doesn't really fit into their remit, and the Turbine Hall displays are always free. Someone on Facebook was saying it was going to be somewhere in Wembley. I don't know where they got that info from, and that certainly is not "in the heart of London", although it wouldn't surprise me if they were being economical with the truth - the main reason I'm hesitant about it.

I'd agree Wembley is not "heart of London" but it's surely close enough to not be a problem to get to?

If it is Wembley, the only place it could really be would be the Business and Exhibition Centre, which is pretty much right next door to North Wembley station.

It'll probably be somewhere like ExCel, the O2 or some other soulless exhibition hangar out east. Large exhibition spaces in central London are not that plentiful.

I have no doubt it's real but the secrecy is a bit odd. Either they've got somewhere really special planned (hmm) or they've not yet nailed down the location and are still scrabbling behind the scenes to secure a space.

The market for event spaces has gone a bit crazy recently. There's a backlog of conventions, conferences, company away-days and the like that have been postponed during lockdown, and now anywhere big enough to host them with enough space for moderate social distancing is likely to be fully booked for the foreseeable future. I think it's a safe bet that they don't have a venue for it.

tbh my first thought was scam. Admittedly an exhibition about the Titanic isn’t the type of subject matter you’d expect a scammer to choose but perhaps that’s the point.

Earl's Court would have been easier for me. Surrey Quays is slightly more complicated. Which is ironic, considering I used to go there all the time when I lived in London. But if it had of been in Earl's Court that would have been a bit odd, because the exhibition centre was knocked down years ago.

Hence my use of the past tense. Another English lanuage ambiguity. I see that "would have been" also works for "had a different venue been chosen".
