Tipton train station (West Midlands) has had a £2 million pound refurbishment, The station was due to open in May 2010 but due to the work being finished sooner it will now open March 28th 2010.

I think that 2m includes the building of a tunnel and that is the reason the station was closed and refurbed.

I think Tipton was the last level crossing on the WCML ?? could be wrong.

I think it was the last on the Rugby-Birmingham-Stafford section. A few were removed as part of the Trent Valley quadrupling and according to the Route 18 document:

Following the closure of Hademore level crossing, there are no longer any major level crossings on the WCML route between Euston and Hest Bank near Lancaster.

Would you class the Stour line as the WCML, surely it is a branch off? Tipton was the busiest LC in the country with the barriers down 79% of the time. so every hour the barriers were down for 47 minutes
