Timing or missing a trick?

Hey All

I'm been checking all the major companies daily for the new apprentice vacancies (have been for so long now), and yet I've somehow missed out on applying for the northern rail trainee driver role and the waterloo trainee driver role, without even a peep from any job alerts I have signed up with, all in the last 24 hours.

Is this just unfortunate luck on timing my end, or is there a trick I'm missing?

I dropped my application in for the service driver roles in Leeds/ Derby/ Nottingham as soon as they came up, and even though I don't have the 3 years experience on the rail network I still dropped an application for the cross country trains (I'm taking a chance and hoping my previous experience in the military, and as a navigator in the merchant navy might have made a little difference).

Reading peoples posts on here can be inspiring and soul crushing at the same time

I signed up for alerts to TPE. Didn’t get any but found out from this forum

when I want to apply for a specific company I literally check their careers website 2-3 times a day, I imagine with the trains they'll get thousands of applicants within the first few hours then close the application.

I checked early morning and then after work later in the evening so sounds like it was just unfortunate timing on my part *face palm*... but yeah this forum has been a healthy place with a good following of informative/ helpful people.

What's TPE?

TPE is Trans Pennine Express. They have train crew based in Sheffield which might be commutable for you maybe?
Perhaps another company to keep an eye on?

Whenever there is something I want off the tinternet, I set it as my homepage. That way, each time I open my browser the page refreshes.

I have job alerts set up with northern and didn't receive the alert for driver jobs either. I just found out by chance.
