Is there any particular reason why the 07:00 Hull to Kings Cross LNER service is scheduled to take 1' 55" from Doncaster to Kings Cross whilst the previous service from Doncaster to London takes 11 minutes less and the subsequent service takes 9 minutes less. All 3 services call at two stations between Doncaster and Kings X.

It sits in the loop south of Grantham to be over taken by 1E01 (0540 Edinburgh-Kings X 'Flying Scotsman')

Will this situation change once the Azuma timetables start?

It also spends 4 min at Doncaster and is overtaken by the 0630 from Newcastle.

It’s a while since I was on that train but from memory the overtaking is often just south of Doncaster.

I was thinking more that the faster acceleration might reduce the need for the inconvenience of being overtaken.

Doesn’t the eventual ECML timetable effectively have the “Scotsman” timings alternate hours? That probably suggests more overtaking, not less...

All ECML services are equal but some are more equal than others. :p
