Tilting Trains

Just so I can wrap up on what trains can actually tilt, does anyone know of any class trains which can tilt?

Apart from Supervoyagers and Pendolinos, and I'm still wondering if there is any possibility Eurostars can.

The first two only. Nothing else currently running in UK has, or has had, tilting capability.

As per above. Mk 4 carriages were designed, I believe, to have tilt capabilities with different bogies but the change to tilting has never been made and to my knowledge there is no plan to either

Oh, and only VT Super Voyagers can tilt...the XC's ones have had the equipment removed to save on weight and maintenance costs

I'm pretty sure that the hydraulic rams were simply replaced with fixed tie bars. This does not reduce weight, but does reduce maintenance costs as you say, and also improves reliability.

158's appear to have a tilting profile similar to mk4's. Of course it is ludicrous to suggest that 158's should be fitted with tilting mechanism. EMT 222 meridians could also have tilting however it is not fitted.

Cosmetically they have been restored, and I think that's as good as you'll get, the chances of either running are very remote I'd have thought. I agree about half an APT-P is at Crewe, but there's not much of the APT-E left at Shildon!

SNCF played with the idea of a tilting TGV in the past but in the end went for what we have now. The eurostar being another TGV has no such capability. No point given the lines they use in service anyway.

They have a slightly tapering profile to allow them to remain in gauge following suspension failure, like a number of other classes of similar vintage.

That is not the same thing as a 'tilt profile'...

EMT 222 meridians could also have tilting however it is not fitted.

I thought the Class 222 has the same lightweight non-tilt bogies as the Class 220 ?
Class 221 Super Voyagers use a completely different type of bogie to allow the tilting mechanism to be fitted.

Yes they do. What i mean is as 222's have a tilt profile if they were fitted with tilt bogies they could tilt. Same story with 220's.

Oh right. I thought that they had a very similar bodyshell to mk4's. Clearly not.
