Hello all,

I bought two Off-Peak Return tickets last night from Leagrave to Blackpool North route Any Permitted with a Disabled Persons Railcard at West Hampstead (TfL Overground) station, intending to travel outward on Monday 14th. Unfortunately, I forgot to select the change date option, and the tickets were issued (at 2227) for travel yesterday. Ideally I would like to change the date on the tickets for the correct date on the 14th (I also bought an Off-Peak return ticket at the same time for a third passenger from London Terminals to Blackpool North for the correct date), but suspect this will not be possible. Could anyone advise what my options might be? I imagine I shall have to buy new tickets and submit the unused tickets to TfL for a refund, but I note that they are not processing refund requests until further notice owing to the cyber attack last month.

Does that include refunds of paper tickets? I thought it was only in reference to contactless refunds for incomplete journeys and the like.

I wouldn't be giving TfL any more time than the NRCoT permits - one month from the date of application (see condition 29.3). Their IT problems are not your fault and don't change their legal obligations.

If you haven't had your money back within a month, I would be considering a chargeback on the payment card used, or alternatively sending them a Letter Before Claim (an effectively mandatory step before commencing legal action).

Can the OP expect to have to pay an admin fee deduction when (eventually) getting their ticket(s) refunded by TfL?

Yes. It's a pity they weren't bought at West Hampstead Thameslink, as the whole process of refunding them would have been easier, with the OP able to go to a station (local to them) and explain to a human. I think that would quite possibly have resulted in the fee being waived.
