Out of interest, can anyone tell me what a "W" next to the price field on a ticket stands for? e.g. £45.00W

I have a feeling it has something to do with how you pay.

It means the ticket has been paid for by warrant, which IIRC includes travel vouchers.

Other codes are M for cash, X for card and Q for the increasingly rare cheque!

W means warrant for definite. This can be travel vouchers, a proper warrant or a miscellaneous payment method (sometimes it's printed on complimentary tickets). W will appear even if you use a mix of payment methods with a voucher or warrant, for example if you pay partly in cash or by card.

That's incorrect in my experience. I have had a part-cash part-voucher payment appear as V and a part-cash part-card payment appear as Y.

So to confirm:

M- Cash only
Q- Cheque only
X- Credit only
W- Warrant or voucher only
V- cash/voucher/warrant
Y- cash/card

V makes sense. However my experience says that Y is for Warrent/Card mixture payment.

I have also had just W for mixture of payment including warrants/vouchers.

I suspect that of the lesser known payment types, the convention isn't always followed.
