Ticket stock colours

Sure this has been mentioned before, but what are the different coloured ticket stocks used for? Was at Huddersfield a few weeks ago and they seemed to have a few there.

Sure this has been mentioned before, but what are the different coloured ticket stocks used for? Was at Huddersfield a few weeks ago and they seemed to have a few there.

In the area I see most, orange is the standard tickets. Weekly's can be sold on light blue (but also orange), Grey tends to be for monthly seasons. Yearly tends to be on Gold.

Just about everything is on orange stock these days (how boring!) although 'uddersfield will have Metro card stock. Places in the Network (former NSE) area will have Gold Card stock, and so on...

Some ticket offices still have the older stock e.g. purple for rovers, although they are less common now.

Thanks for the link, thought I remembered a Fotopic site for it. Do stations give out blank copies of the ticket stock (or do they have to put VOID over it)?

They would have to void it otherwise they might as well just hand out blank cheques...

 

[First class]

Stock should be as follows:

Orange - Weekly seasons, normal single/return tickets. rovers/rangers, some receipts, meal vouchers, reservations, berths.

Grey - Any season over one week and less than one year.

Blue - (a more robust plastic ticket) - Annual Seasons (other than those in NSE area).

Gold Card - Annual seasons in NSE area.

There are then other ticket stocks as follows:

1) 1 day bus pass (London area) -red/white
2) Travelcard (Day) - red/pink/white
3) Travelcard (period) - red/pink/white (most stations will issue these on normal orange stock)
4) Regional PTE tickets (centro, metro etc)

You've also still got RSP4407/RSP4408 'paper' tickets.

Yes, it used to be black for first class supplements, and platform tickets issued from the booking hall if I remember.

I am sure that grey includes educational seasons, as I know I have still got one of my old ones lying around somewhere.
