Bit of advice needed on how to proceed… in short, c2c’s app seems to have failed me. I bought a ticket 30 minutes before getting to my station and tried to load it using their app on my way there to no avail. I then tried using the National Rail Smartcard app with this also failing. Despite it displaying in the app as having loaded, the barriers at Ealing refused to let me in and, as TfL and GWR at my destination station were convinced it wasn’t their problem, had to be let in at both ends manually.

On my way back, how should I go about getting through? I’m nervous about what would happen if there was a revenue inspection. Should I buy a ticket (with railcard discount) or use contactless (with journey history) and claim this back from c2c given I already have a valid ticket? Or should I try and get through the barriers again?

If you check the Smartcard with the National Rail Smartcard App, does the ticket show up?
