I have often wondered when buying my tickets online why it says i can collect my tickets in 2 hours time from the machine. Why does it take this length of time? I have noticed that in some cases i have picked up my tickets just over an hour from buying them online so is this 2 hours strictly true?

It can take 2 hours from Trainline-based sites such as Virgin, EMT, and SWT. Normally from WebTIS-based sites such as Southern, East Coast, and London Midland it is almost instant.

The process of downloading booking information is manual with thetrainline-powered engines therefore can take quite a while. I have even experienced non-availability after the two hours have lapsed on occasion on Sundays.
