No we have not set any times for railcard discounts. You select the service you want to travel on and if the railcard is valid you get the discount no matter what time you are buying it.

Actually this is a good idea but why can't there also be a simple 1-button press to get a ticket to popular destinations? I once changed my plans at Newcastle and I can't remember why but after faffing about with themachine I decided I would just get out my laptop, connect to the WiFi and buy a ticket online.

I am left wondering and puzzled at the number of people in threads like this who complain but don't seem willing to simply buy online as an alternative.

Not possible to buy Family Railcards online on Metrolink.

The same thing happened to me on Wednesday, but this time at Paddington! What was more annoying was that the machine didn't accept my Network Card even a minute AFTER 10am! Querying this with a member of staff, he told me to try again, as there's a delay of a couple of minutes before the machines accept such a railcard, and it then worked...

I'll buy in advance next time...

I bought in advance this time as I was travelling at 10 this morning, and found a new issue in that the ticket barriers at Paddington (platform 5 I think) didn't accept my ticket! It might have been for another reason, but it seems suspicious as I went through the barrier a few minutes before 10.

The supervisor then let me through fine, but it got me thinking. A silly question perhaps, but can standard tickets from a machine have such restrictions imprinted in them?
