Ticket Inspector Position

Hi Folks,

I'm considering applying for a P/T Assistant Ticket Inspector position with FGW. I should have a decent chance because I recently attended an interview for a different PT ATI job and although I didn't get that position I got some very positive feedback.

I've been reading through these threads and somebody mentioned that RPOs do not get the same benefits that other FGW employees get, ie, free train travel. Which leads me to another question. Is an RPO the same as a Ticket Inspector?

Also any other TI's or RPO's out there. Do you like the job? If not which railway position would you prefer and why?

FGW employ both RPO's (Revenue Protection Inspectors) and ATE's (Assisstant Ticket Examiners).

Both however, AFAIK, get the same benefits as all other grades.

What was the reasoning behind that - their contracted hours? Any link to the thread?

I know of someone who works for a First TOC on a 7 hour contract. They get the same benefits as full time staff - Priv, free travel on their own TOC, the First Group boxes and eligibility for the generous First "My Rewards" scheme.
