Hello,

On ticket booking sites such as Redspottedhanky, I am always asked which station I would like to collect my ticket from. Personal experience dictates that it's possible for me to pick up my ticket from any station, not just the one I picked at the time of booking. Is it a redundant question?

My next question may be outside the remit of this forum. It's very rare that Redspottedhanky offers to send my ticket free-of-charge via first class post. What determines whether is option is available to me or not?

It's to make sure that the station you select actually has ToD facilities.

You need to have five(?) clear working days between the date of booking and the date of travel for First Class post to be offered as an option.

Indeed. You can go to any station in the list of choices regardless of which one is selected, but not all stations in the UK are in the list (even some that have self-service ticket machines aren't there, although the most are)

I believe Godalming or it may be Farncombe that wasn't listed but you could collect tickets.

Why would they not want to list a station where you can collect or is just an oversight and no one has pointed it out?

The TVMs on my local part of the North Downs Line have had ticket collection functionality switched on for at least the last 12 months.

None of the ticketing sites lists these stations as valid for TOD. FGW's site did for a while but they've disappeared again.

FWIW, I've had no problems collecting tickets on either of the two TVMs at Blackwater - the last time was a week ago.

Certinaly for the WebTIS sites it is the latter. If you tell them to add a station they normally get around to adding it within a few days. The list is per site so a station might show on FGW but not RSH for example.

Indeed. NRE was once showing that London Charing Cross didn't support it until I tipped them off :)
