Hi guys
Bought an advance ticket for an adventure this weekend for collection at Maidstone Barracks. Went down yesterday afternoon to find the ticket machine is out of order. Crossing my fingers it will be fixed by Friday (day of travel). Out of curiosity, what happens/should i do if the TVM is still broken at this time?

I'm not sure whether there are conductors/guards on that line, however if there are, they should be able to print your ticket for you. Also if there is a ticket office, they can also do it.

You don't have to collect it at Maidstone Barracks.

Just go to one of the other Maidstone stations and collect there.

The station you choose when buying a ticket is simply to ensure you don't try to collect at a station with no facilities - your booking is in no way tied to the station you picked from the list.

Believe that Maidstone Barracks is an unstaffed station operated by SouthEastern Trains, so don't think there's now any ticket office to go to at this particular location.

If possible I would try to collect the ticket elsewhere before travelling. This minimises your risk of any problems.

You just say I need to collect my ticket.. and give them the code and they should be able to do it. But like James says, try and collect elsewhere to minimise issues.

Only if the facilities to collect the ticket (which are normally available) are not available at the station prior to departure. Boarding a train routinely without having previously collected your ticket is not permitted.

Agreed, at least with Maidstone you have two other stations to try and collect which are close together. Not like the closest station is miles away
