If someone is kind enough to check the following journey plan it would be most appreciated:

Bath - Eastbourne - SUPER OFFPEAK R

Leaving Bath after 10am on Monday

Returning with an overnight break of journey in London on Wednesday evening

Continuing journey at cerca 9am on Thursday morning - excessed to OFF-PEAK R

Valid?
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Further reading has showed me that in theory under the new rules I might as well buy an off peak return in the first place as you are now excessed up to the full price of a return - but given what people are saying about half price still being issued - probably best to try it

I don't see why not.

Half excess only used to apply to off-route and over-distance. Change of ticket type always involved charging the full difference.

That said, i think the new procedures might enable you to do a cheaper excess in the case of change of ticket type, however I'm not completely sure about this as it is proving rather confusing for me at the moment.

Thanks! Would it be valid to change at Haywards Heath on the return up to london and arrive into Blackfriars rather than Victoria? Would be much easier for my connection up to Cricklewood on my break of journey

The options are:

Bath - Eastbourne Off Peak Return (SVR) Rte Salisbury @ £52.00
Change of Route excess (rtn portion only) to Rte +Any Permitted Price = £9 (Calculated as: (£70.00-£52.00)/2)
Total is therefore £61.00

That is if you are happy to go outward via Salisbury and return via London.

Alternatively if you wish to go via London both ways then you need the Off Peak Return Rte +Any Permitted at £70.00

Permitted routes for the +Any Permitted ticket are as follows:
All the permitted routes between Eastbourne & Bath (including mapped routes, and the shortest route)
All the permitted routes between Eastbourne and London PLUS inclusive transfer between appropriate interchange stations on LU PLUS all the permitted routes between London and Bath.

In other words, the holder of a Bath to Eastbourne +Any Permitted ticket is entitled to the same permitted routes between Eastbourne and London as the older of an Eastbourne to London Any Permitted ticket. So of course you can change at Haywoods Heath.
