A very poor show. I've experienced this myself with Northern, who arrange ticket acceptance with Arriva North West (for example) but then the bus driver won't accept my ticket "We're nothing to do with Northern, mate."

For a start you can at the very least submit your delay repay application, making this clear.

Despite it being publicised by National Rail and Southern, Metrobus refused to allow me to travel leaving me stranded in the rain for an hour.

Sorry if I'm missing something, but what did you do in the rain for an hour?

I'd just have paid the bus fare... then taken a record of the licence plate and maybe the driver's name if possible. I'd be expecting delay repay and reimbursement of the bus fare, obviously. Escalate to MCOL if they don't pay.

I find that bus operators often don't inform their staff when ticket acceptance has been agreed. Communication can be quite poor even when the bus and train company are both owned by the same people (The Go Ahead Group). Hopefully you will get a helpful reply from Metrobus soon. Metrobus should hopefully be able to provide some form of compensation as it was their driver who refused a ticket when it should have been accepted.
