Any idea why I don't seem to be able to book tickets from St Albans to Cowes West on Friday 5 Nov? I can book the week before and I can book as far as Southampton Central on the 5th. I haven't seen anything about ferry problems for that date so it's a bit strange that the booking engines won't sell me anything.

Possibly a lack of ferries in the timetable database beyond 1st November.

Ticket acceptance via East Cowes presumably? (If, of course, you can get there, as last time I checked, the chain ferry across from West Cowes to East Cowes was also off, and it's a fair old way via Newport).

For good measure they have had a chip-pan fire on Red Osprey, one of the Southampton-East Cowes car ferries.
There should be a boat shuttle for foot passengers across the Medina instead of the chain-ferry, but it may be on-line payment only.
