I spent an unplanned hour or so at Doncaster yesterday, having had the good fortune to arrive on the 10:57 from Kings Cross, about the only service running at the time due to the broken rail at (?) Newark. Props to GC for managing to thread the needle via Lincoln so that we got to Donny only an hour or so late.
Donny itself was absolute chaos !! But I would like to give a shout out to the hard-working platform staff who kept up a stream of announcements and face-to-face advice to help pax get where they needed to go. All with good humour as well, though it must have been a difficult day for them.
Minor grumble that the one service they didn't announce was my onward to Sheff, but as luck would have it I realised just in time it was standing at 3B and jumped aboard
The joys of rail travel
