Your guess is as good as ours! What is coming over to the ROC is changing daily.

But put it this way:

9 panels from London Bridge
three bridges has 8/9
Victoria ASC has around 7?
3 panels from West Hampstead
Then you have all the smaller boxes which will make up 5/6 workstations.

Talks of Medway Valley going in there which is another workstation, talks of Ashford going on there which has 6 I believe.

(These are all estimates, I don't know what the exact plan is!)

How many panels/ work station will it have once completed

That's a good question that both the staff and the unions would love to know. The last full Suusex route strategy said there would be 21 workstaions but some of them have been claimed back by LNE route back to York ROC ( http://www.networkrail.co.uk/browse...iture plans/route plans/sussex route plan.pdf ) page 51. Then the 14 ROCs got reduced to 12 with the possibility of Ashford IECC and the Hastings Area coming to TBROC instead. The planning application for the ROC said there would be 48 signalling staff on duty when fully staffed, but that was an assumption way back in 2011 ( http://crawley.gov.uk/pub_livx/groups/operational/documents/plappother/int204794.pdf )( http://crawley.gov.uk/pw/Planning_a...=&pLocation=&pPostcode=&pDateType=&pProposal= ).

So who knows, but if they re-configure the Sussex East Coastway workstation into the same type that control the Thameslink end. Then I would say the main Opps floor could take four pods of 10, using the Thameslink pod as my example.

London Bridge ASC now has 7 panels left out of 9.
Victoria ASC now has 10 panels left out of 11.
TBASC has 9 panels (none have migrated yet).
Ashford IECC has 5 workstaions.
Ashford North Kent has 2 workstaions.
Ashford HS1 I beleive is 2 worksations.

I'm not sure it's possible (or cost effective) to change the MCS to a westcad. Although the desk it's sitting on may change soon.

Correct about London Bridge etc, I was counting them 'complete' to give an idea into numbers.

Apparently HS1 won't be going into a ROC, but rumours arife!

I was on about the desk not the operating system :) . Apparently all the country end workstaions were or are still planned to be MCS and all the London End / Thameslink were or are still planned to be WestCad. Then there's TMS integrated in the not to distant future lmao  But to say the plans are fluid is like saying the Pope is Catholic.

Now that London Bridge panels 8&9, Victoria (VS) worksation 6, West Hampsead workstion 1 and the Sussex East Coastway have all migrated into the ROC the only thing for sure is elements of London Bridge ASC will migrate with the various stages of the Thameslink rebuild. The Streatham area of Victoria (VC) consisting of elements of panels 2B&3 is gearing up to move somewhere in the near future. Then the Lewes to Seaford area is due to go in the currents contol period. The outside possibilities is TBASC panel 7 moving over to the ROC (subject to Thameslink project to confirmation) and the real outsider in this control period is the Redhill area from TBASC panel 3.

just a quick question, and slightly off topic, but how is the staffing situation down there, have all staff affected been transfered or found other work ok?

Those wanted jobs were found jobs. A couple were displaced, some took voluntary severance the rest got signalling jobs both on our route and the adjacent route.

Correct. The fact our W/S was dragged out so long, several of the ones found jobs ended up applying for other jobs and landed grade 9s in the local ASC!

There was also MOM vacancies actually created so displaced signallers can be put in to them.

That's the second scheme of closures I have seen, and both times the area had a mass recruiting ban so that there was jobs in all manner of ops so staff could be slotted in. Of course, eventually this will get more and more difficult.

For the time being though, don't worry about it. Even more so if this 2015 no redundancy agreement goes ahead.

I was abit worried before, but I applied to get in the ROC and I'm in. It is of course a different world to a small mechanical box, but it's the exact same environment as any multi panel ASC I have been in. I have enjoyed every minute of it and it's been brilliant. Everyone has been great and supportive, and any problems up there have been solved quickly and well.

Another stupid from my good self... Since three bridges has taken over the core signalling, is it 1 panel? As I've noticed that farringdon to elephant is TVS and west hampsterd to farringdon is TWH

At the moment all the areas that have migrated into the ROC have had a "T" added to their excisting codes.

London Bridge From L to TL.
Victoria Eastern from VS to TVS.
West Hamstead from WH to TWH.
Suusex East Coastway is TEB using the old Eastbourne EB code.

So it looks like TBROC is using the old box codes and not line of routes signal codes that the other Re-signalling schemes and ROCs are using.

This is what happens when an area is part of a "re-control", which is what the line between Kentish Town and Elephant & Castle underwent. This is slightly different than a re-signalling, as a re-control involves the existing interlocking equipment being controlled from a different location.

For example if you look at when Reading PSB was closed and moved into the Thames Valley Signalling Centre, T was put in front of all the then current Rxxx signal numbers - then gradually as the area was re-signalled, new signal numbers were put on all signals as new interlocking equipment was commissioned, note that these were not 'line of route' relative though and were just T.

One slight difference is that of the re-signalled section of line between London Bridge and New Cross Gate which has been given TL signal numbers like the re-controlled areas of New Cross Gate to Anerley and South Bermondsey to Peckham Rye. For this I am not sure, although perhaps because of the part re-control that could be why.

As for the Sussex East Coastway re-signalling, this was a re-signalling however the section of line between Hampden Park and Eastbourne retained some equipment and the signal numbers were unchanged from when Eastbourne signal box controlled it - therefore I presume this could be the reason for the use of the Eastbourne signal box code.

Another thing to note is not all re-signalled areas and ROCs have used line of route codes, like with the Thames Valley and also East Kent which uses the code EK. (My understanding when you say line of route is when for example in the East Midlands DC is used for the line between Derby and Chesterfield)

Technically one workstation, but with 2 desks. Same as London Bridge Low Level. Double manned during the day, and can be single manned overnight.

Actually, correcting myself. Double personned. Sorry ladies.

As has been said, one but two!
Core Central which is the former West Hampstead panel, and Core South, which is the old Victoria ASC panel.
Hence the signal numberings.

On the original scheme plans all of the signals were prefixed "T" then on latter scheme plans they were all prefixed "EB" and on the final scheme plans they were all prefixed "TEB" which indeed they were commissioned as such.

Sort of. Apart from when you look at them there is physically 2 sets of screens, mouse, and keyboards (so physically at least, it's two workstations) But they both have the exact same map on them, and both can control the entire lengths of it.

I believe the core W/S' are similar, but they only have the maps on each W/S need.

And regarding East Coast. Correct, Eastbourne - Hampden Park (excl.) remains 99% the same. All signals that had them have had their auto plates removed. 104/103 are now controlled signals, and all obviously now have their TEB prefix.
