Only seen about the first half of it in a high school history class about 15 years ago (long before I or my classmates turned 18), up to and including the attacks and the immediate aftermath. Shook me to my core and firmly embedded in me the view that I'd rather be within a mile of the nearest military target (in my case, Faslane) than miles away from the epicenter with sufficent warning and booze in my system. No way would I be left to deal with the hellish aftermath.

Well, quite. If the worst happened and there's sufficient notice, I'll be buying a rather expensive bottle of malt and finding a nice spot on the beach at Lossiemouth!

The good news is that you can save yourself the single fare from CYK to HLC: the tsunami from the airbursts over the Firth* should mean you can get much the same result at home and be £6.20 better off (more if it happens at Peak times). There's always a silver lining.

Every time I hear the 12" version of the Frankie Goes to Hollywood song, Two Tribes go to War, it always reminds of Threads.
"Air attack warning" "fallout expected" "Remember to tag for ID purposes" are some of the song lyrics.

Anyway I'd rather be standing under the bomb with a bottle of vodka and I don't drink

It's the same guy, Patrick Allen. The 7" is sampled from 'protect and survive' the 12" mixes (quite a few of them) Patrick did new ones.

and of course if you knew the worse was happening then you might as well find the most expensive bottle of scotch and take a 5 finger discount.

luckily I can't see a nuclear war ever happening as whilst some leaders with nukes are complete barnpots I think the ones with ones that could actually be relied upon to work have at least enough sanity not to use them. This softens Threads for me quite a lot.

The only leader that I think would ever remotely be a threat is Kim, but more due to the potential that he has been told a lot of fibs by his military leaders about their capability so thinks he has a chance against western forces and weapons. A ground invasion would certainly be very short, I could see a lot of his army "dying" in battle but suspiciously having an identical twin that just so happens to live in South Korea and always has done, no not a North Korean deserter at all!

The main threat for a nuclear war is an accidental nuclear war.
