I have had a DR Claim rejected by Greater Anglia for a journey made on 31/3/2018.
I traveled from Northampton to Great Yarmouth, via Euston, (08.57 dep), tube to Newbury Park, Rail Replacement Bus to Ingatestone, for the 11.51 Departure to Norwich, which left on time.

Journey planners sent me via Kings Cross and Cambridge, as I knew there was engineering work at Liverpool Street, but I was meeting a friend to travel with (and not in too much of a hurry) at Ipswich.

My Train left Ingatestone on time,(11.51) but arrived at Norwich six minutes late (at 13.34), narrowly missing the 13.36 service to Great Yarmouth.
I had to wait for the next service (hourly), for the next service to GY, and arrived 59 minutes late.

GA have rejected my claim on the basis that my journey was subject to planned engineering works, but my train was on time leaving Ingatestone, and lost time on it's journey.

I posted my claim to LNW Railway (as thats who I started my journey with), but I have received my rejection from GA, with the note 'no ticket enclosed', I certainly did enclose my ticket to LNWR, but it seems to have been 'passed on'

Any thoughts as to wether my claim is valid?

Why have LNWR passed this on to GA?

Please post the booked/planned itinerary in tabular format, followed by the actual timings in tabular format.

I think you travelled with at least three train companies: West Midlands Trains, Govia Thameslink Railway and [Abellio] Greater Anglia.

The company you need to claim from is Greater Anglia.

Why have LNWR passed this on to GA?

The responsibility for Delay Repay lies with the operator whose train's delay first caused you to be delayed. Since neither WMT nor GTR delayed you, it is indeed GA who are responsible. In the process of passing on the claim, WMT may indeed have failed to include the ticket, and in the absence of this no claim is going to be considered.

The mere fact that there were engineering works does not mean you are not entitled to compensation. What counts is the delay to your journey compared to the timetable as you were informed of it when you decided your itinerary - whether this was at the point of obtaining tickets or just before getting on the train.

Thanks for all your replies, I realise now that I should have claimed with GA from the outset.
As pointed out above, without a ticket it is pretty much a lost cause.
I agree that claiming online is easiest, but a pre paid form and envelope is just as easy!

Both WMT’s and GA’s delay repay claims are processed by Abellio’s shared service centre in Glasgow. I hope they would not have posted the claim to themselves. The original ticket would have been sent for storage with your form after the details were entered on their system. The fact they haven’t recognised the issue and cross-referenced with the details entered for your claim with WMT is pure incompetence.

Unfortunately many more tickets are ‘lost’ in these kinds of situations. It’s frankly unbelievable how many times people get a reply saying ‘there were no tickets’ etc. I have on several occasions refused outright to send original tickets and given a justifiable reason which has always been accepted. A suitable quality photograph of a ticket is all they should ever need.
