I never thought I was going to launch such a thread :) , but which of the preservation lines broadly around London have a Thomas The Tank, and better, a Thomas day?

I'm aware that there were some copyright-type issues between some preservation societies and the current holders of the copyright a while ago, but I would have hoped that was all passed. However, I've looked round a few (Bluebell etc) and can't see anything on their websites. Some years ago it seemed quite a number of the railways had taken an industrial tank and done it up with blue paint and a fibreglass smokebox door.

Nene Valley have one which was christened by the Rev Awdry but the Mid Hants Railway have the only one that actually looks like Thomas.

you got there first....only may I add Thomas on the mid Hants railway doesn't pull passenger trains, do you have to go to Ropley to see him in action?

He does? Might not at the moment but that Thomas has definitely been used for passenger services... maybe not regularly but definitely at times.

A quick Google for 'Day out with Thomas' will reveal all!

It's noticeable how many lines no longer bother with Thomas.
AFAIK, the demands of (s)HIT Entertainment remain prohibitive.

Very much so... it's unfortunate but that's what they've based their strong brand name and reputation on.
