Browsing the forum via Safari on an iPad recently, and am having to go back 4, 5 or 6 times on occasion to get back to where I was, when 1 or 2 'backs' should be sufficient. Can't say I've found the same problem on other websites so far

I've think that it's caused by the adverts hijacking the webpage. They really are a pain in the proverbial.

To solve this I go to the Security Settings in my browser (IE) and add these sites to the blocked/restricted list:
*.myadclicks.com
*.adclicks.com
*.doubleclick.net

That usually does the trick for a while. No more multiple back clicks are required. When the problem comes back I look at the page history (on IE by right clicking the back button) to see what site is hijacking the site this time and add it to the restricted list.
The "myadclicks" is a new one that's only come up in the last few days.

I've got no trouble with advertising but when it tries to hijack my browser I get annoyed and will prevent it.

I've just seen a URL flash up in the lower left corner for a "doubleclickads" or similar ( bit too fast for me to read it properly ).

No; they are a different company, and you will see things appear when the page is loading depending on how your browser is set up. On the default styles I've blocked those Ads and will re-enable them another day as sometimes it needs a day or two to chill out and it's back to normal.

Another Google ad is causing chaos again - I know the staff are aware but just thought I'd post to warn others - currently most pages on Firefox are getting redirected to a page hosted at "lemode-mgz.com"

Using the forum just now I keep getting thread pages redirected to a website that Firefox is blocking as malware. Anyone else having this?

Seems almost like one of the ads is causing the page to redirect soemwhere dodgy.

Google are serving bad adverts. I was having terrible problems earlier, with it taking sometimes 4 or 5 attempts at visiting a page to get it to load without immediately being redirected to some unwanted and irrelevant advert garbage. The adverts are doing things which are entirely forbidden by Google's AdWords policy, and I've complained to them with a lot of detail on what was happening. It's happening all over the net, not specific to these forums.

I also gave a lot of detail on it to the site admins here.

I have had a go at fixing this short-term (although any appearance of the offending Google advert may/will cause the issue to reoccur) - let me know if anyone has any issues in the immediate term after clearing their cache

The malicious ads were delivered to website owners signed up with Google’s AdSense program, wrote Denis Sinegubko, a senior malware researcher with Sucuri, a Delware-based security company. AdSense supplies relevant banner advertisements to websites.

When displayed, the malicious advertisements automatically redirected a person’s browser to bogus websites. Those websites were designed to look like legitimate magazines such as Forbes and Good Housekeeping, featuring spammy offerings for anti-aging and brain-enhancing products, among others, Sinegubko wrote.

The attacks persisted since mid-December, spiking last Friday before Google apparently eliminated the malicious advertisements over the weekend, Sinegubko wrote. The problem generated a large number of questions and comments on Google’s AdSense help forum.

The type of attack, known as malvertising, has been an ongoing problem for online advertising companies. Scammers will often submit non-malicious ads for approval then swap those out for malicious ones....

Do you get this when you first try to enter the site - I have been getting it recently when clicking on the link to Rail Forum it suddenly goes on to this file sharing site as you say

I have had it twice in 2 days redirecting to Filestore - both have been links sent to me to threads/posts. Once it has happened on the iPad and once on the PC.

Staff are aware of this but unfortunately as this is a Google issue rather than a forum issue, there is not very much we can do apart from reporting things to Google and chasing them up.

I personally use Avast and it blocks these redirects in realtime, so you may want to give it a go too.
