Sometimes its the same for me on various websites that Paul Ive just put it down to a bit of lag. 8 seconds sounds quite a bit though. But there is no remedy your end for it.

A prayer to St Clip, the patron saint of computer problems, often works wonders. My problem is suddenly solved at 2130 on Wednesday evening.

As I said on my original post, when I logged on to first page or moved to a thread, on my Ubonto rum computer with Orange ISP the page heading came up but no content at the bottom of the page it said. delivering "my switch ads" and would freeze for 3 or 4 mins for each page change.I thought I had a virus till I read this thread. It was OK on my other computer running on windows XP.
It is OK now, must be St Clicks fairy dust that sorted it unless you lot or the my switch people did something to clear it

Check your version of IE and see if theres an update for it and as that appears to be a shockwave issue which causes web pages to freeze. If so then you may have to disable it.

I can't; that was on the work machine at lunchtime... Interestingly enough I don't get the same issue on my older version at home!

I've also seen this, basically what's happening is delivery.myswitchads.com is being extremely slow to load when the page tries to get sat.js from it, and because of the way that file is being requested the page can't do anything until it is received (or your browser gives up).

Interestingly my ISP is also EE / Orange, so maybe it's only happening to people using their network?

My solution was to block delivery.myswitchads.com using my hosts file. That way it fails instantly and the page loads, albeit without the ads. I used the following line:

127.0.0.1 delivery.myswitchads.com

Some Adverts are trying to install a "Java Update" - directing instantly to this page -

- which tries to download a boobytrapped "java update"

I'm sure Google will delete them when spotted but in the meantime could you report the URL of the Ad to me and I can block them. Unfortunately as a fairly small website we don't have the clout to sign up to the major Ad networks so we have to rely on Google who unfortunately do not seem to "vet" their Ads.

I've been having the double click to go back since yesterday, and I've just had a redirect to a site claiming:

You are currently browsing web with Firefox and your Flash (ads) blocker might be outdated

I do use an adblocker, though not on this site.

The url it redirected me to is:

And it automatically came up with a download from:

There are a few bogus "software update" sites operating at present, triggered by adverts. I've seen updates for Flash (looks just like the real thing apart from the url) from 'flashplayerinstal.com', for Java from 'javainstalnow.com', and the browser (without specifying which browser is being updated) from 'browserdownloadtop.com'.

Additionally, the telephone scams from "the computer maintenance department", attempting to hijack computers by talking the user through some false updates, have recently started up again.

"You have a computer virus and I need some information from you"

"That is not answering the question that I asked of you. I asked you to tell me the address of the premises where you are calling from."

"In central Manchester"

"How amazing that you have incorrectly answered my question as I know the full address of the Microsoft office in the Greater Manchester area and it is nowhere near central Manchester."

I've just done a scan with two separate scanners which both report no issues.

It appears to actually be a specific Advert banner (which are supplied by Google to thousands of different websites), which tends to sort itself out fairly quickly.

One of my sons had a similar call at his home last week and the caller had a very pronounced Indian sub-continent accent. She claimed to be a Microsoft Manchester technical support operative who wanted to do a GTA to check on matters.

My son, being nobody's fool and a manager of a technology company, realising that a scam was being perpetrated informed the caller that he was a senior Microsoft technical manager at the Microsoft complex in the Aviator Way building on the Manchester Airport Business Park and warned the female caller that she was acting outside the guidelines of Microsoft. The call was terminated by the caller.

I've had a similar situation and my Brother-in-Law deals with all my computer needs as he's a computer technician, he played along with their drivel and when they asked him to carry out several instructions, he told them his computer was now on fire and what should I do! That got rid of them quickly.

Filestore72 popped up for me earlier as well, around 2 AM. Most annoying...
