Anyone know how Cromwells getting to Carnforth for this Saturdays CME. (Timings indicate Light engine to Preston early AM)
Nothing on UK Main line posts. Did she arrive by low loader earlier this month?
Any help appreciated.

Can't see anything by rail going INTO Carnforth Steamtown, so must arrive by road.

A loco then detaches from the consist at Preston

Then forms 1Z87 11:06 Preston - Carlisle 14:52 via Settle. Looks like it takes on water at Hellifield in the loop between 12:21 and 12:53.

The detachment forms 0Z87 11:10 Preston - Carnforth Holding Siding 11:48


1Z88 Carlisle - London Euston is the return working, changing locomotive at Carnforth.

I suspect 5Z81 is Steam + support coach only

Can anyone confirm that Oliver Cromwell will be stopping for water at Hellifield on Saturday 11th? This weeks Railway Herald says the trains for the rest of Feb have been re-routed so that they go via S & C on the way back - does that include this weekend or is ones after that?

Main line steam still shows it stopping at Hellifield at 12.21, but that was only updated Jan 29th, so does that still apply?

Shows via Penrith on the return leg to London Euston. If it went via S+C, it wouldn't get to London until around 1am! There is also a loco change at Carnforth.

There have been updates to schedules daily since 29/01 and it still shows a stop at Helifield loop at 12:21.

Is it definitely going to be 70013 Oliver Cromwell? According to roster it could also be Black Five 45305, which, according to UKsteam, ran light engine from York to Carnforth last Friday.

5Z81 is down as E+C (engine + support coach).

According to main line steam, Oliver cromwell is already at carnforth somehow (not sure where it was before).

Hopefully it will go via hellifield as going to get some pics, last time I saw it, it was in bits at Crewe heritage centre

Cromwell arrived at Carnforth by low loader yesterday. Now have it on good authority that unloading went well despite everything being heavily iced up at steamtown.

Fair enough. I didn't know where it had been before arriving at Carnforth.

Always thought the GCR was connected to Network Rail too.

The GCR(Nottingham) is connected but the GCR isn't.
