Hi, I'm planning of going from Thirsk to Lincoln sometime in the next few weeks to meet somebody off another forum. I have a Y-P railcard. I intend on setting off after 10 but before 12, and setting off back at about 6pm on the same day, depending on how things go and dates are not yet set so I want a flexible, walk-up ticket.
Splitting at York is a no-brainer, as I have to change here anyway.
CDR THI-YRK = 6.15 +
CDR YRK-LCN = 19.10 = 25.25, compared to SSR THI-LCN at 28.00
I have thought of splitting at Gainsborough, which makes a further saving but the trains I want back are likely via Collingham instead. Are there any routes which would add only a little extra time but save a similar amount of money? I'm a bit skint at the moment.
