Not surprising coming from that rag. There was victims though 1 being the driver of the train involved, the other being the emergency services and our colleagues within network rail who would have had to clean the aftermath up. I see wales online had very little support for the driver and the local chav population praising the crims. I have no sympathy for those who put themselves in danger in a reckless and stupid manner.

The driver will get the support of the staff, but i hope that the company treat him accordingly.

Once again no sympathy from me for those who died.

David Cooper wand Trevor Davies were clearly complete numpties. Their families should pay compensation to the shop, the driver, the people who had to clean the mess, commuters who were delayed, Network Rail, the TOC, and anyone else affected by this.

They were clearly NOT good lads, and anyone who says that is clearly deluded and morally corrupt.

I disagree that the family should pay, it isn't directly their fault, however whatever assets these thieves have should be seized and sold to cover the costs.

Bit random, but I've read that in Japan railways companies charge the families of suicide victims around £700,000 as a delay fee!

I don't think the family of these guys should be made to pay anything, I think they've already suffered enough for the stupidity of these low life's. I do wish though that they'd not try and convince people that these two were great guys in a vain attempt to make people care that they're dead.

If your happy to harbour a criminal then you can't suddenly expect that decent citizens will give a damn when your darling child suffers because of their anti-social, criminal ways. Would they care if they had run someone down and killed them? Would they have handed themselves into the police if they had done so? No, of course they wouldn't, because people like them only care about themselves, so why should we care about them?

In China, the family of an offender are fined for failing to keep their family in line. If you cannot pay, the family assets are seized. This may be going a bit far to seize homes etc, but holding families responsible may help.

This includes aunts uncles grandparents and cousins etc.

I agree with the sentiment, but surely they don't have much of value to take? Don't get me wrong, I ain't no hippy, but I think this family have suffered enough already.

Having been involved in a fatality i must say my TOC were very good to me. Counselling was arranged but only if i agreed to go, nothing forced. Also as drivers we do get approx £1,000 through solicitors via ASLEF. Depends on the person i suppose, but it never goes away really.

This story was also on the BBC within hours, they were the quotes from the family who said the above, to put the thieves in a better light, the quotes were taken early in the morning.

The better light being.
1. Steal a quad bike.
2. Ride it at midnight because it was stolen
3. Meet a third party to get rid of the goods
4. Ram raid the store
5. etc etc etc

On BBC Wales the person representing the railways(non Police)

What the bloody hell do they think they were doing they theived (or tried too) all that stuff out of the camping shop run across the railway on a (stolen) quad bike and got hit by a train causing the driver major shock and causing him to be probally depressed and deeply traumatised for the rest of there life and damaging some rolling stock and yet they get sypmathy? they stole somthing and they got there lives stolen by themselves.

There fault no-one elses I have only got sympathy for the driver.

relating to an ealrier question about the toc looking after the driver, I can speak with experience of dealing with a fatality onboard a train. I work for Northern and the aftercare fron management was exemplary. They arranged counselling for me, not compulsory, and made sure that I was ok to return to work by making visits to the place it happened beforehand etc. many on this forum will have had experience of fatalaties of some nature and if all tocs look after their staff like northern did for me then great help will be at hand.

Going back to the idiots on the quadbike, they got what they deserved, mess on a train line chances are you will get hit. My ONLY symapthy is to the driver and emergency services who have had to deal with the incident

Least the income support & "job seekers" allowance bill as been reduce by 2, over 50 years that quite a saving for the tax payers amonst us.
Personally I hang the remains from nearest bridge as a warning to others who may dare to trespass on or near the railway.
