this is the 2nd inccident i have heard of this week. a 14 year old kids got hit by a train at pyle a few days ago

What amazes me about this story is why two guys would choose to go quadbiking at 4am in the first place. Can't be much fun if you're unable to see where you're going.

It beggars belief how the Hades they managed to get it onto the line in the first place. Although quads are designed for cross-country work, running them over rails and ballast would probabally damage the tyres and suspension very quickly...Or so I imagine.
That and the amount of lineside fencing/LC removal over time meant they must've travelled for quite some way along the line before they were hit! hock:

Still, it serves them right I suppose...My sympathies are with the driver, the others involved in cleaning up the mess, and the families of the deceased - As the latter (Who probabally have no fault in this at all) now have to live with the foolish actions and aftermath of their now passed-on relatives!

There is stupid and there is these two who took stupidity to a higher level.

Probable train involved was-
5L16 0310 Swansea -Cheltenham Spa with 43133 and 43175, it passed Cardiff at 0427 then no further report.
Thoughts with the driver and everyone else who has to scrape them up.

Quadbiking at 4am & upto no good, Yeah Right! Pull the other one, its got bells on!

I would suspect that they were doing reconnaissance/exploration to see what metals or cables they could nick.

I'd agree that they didn't deserve to die for nicking some cable (allegedly), but in terms of recklessness and stupidity maybe they did.

Strange as it may sound, it seems that 3/4am is a popular time for yobs to go out on quad bikes, they're always out at that time where I live. It's so they can race around the empty streets and be as antisocial as possible by waking up everybody who actually has a job. :-x

I only feel sorry for the train driver and families of these two idiots. I have zero sympathy for the two criminals...

These weren't innocent kids who were accidental in the wrong place at the wrong time, these were two proper criminals who had just stolen £40 grand worth of gear. These are the kind of people who act like they're untouchable, thinking they'd never face the consequences of their actions. Well, unfortunately for them, they paid highest price for their disregard of the law and fellow citizens.

As I say, I won't be shedding any tears for them. If you play with fire your going to get burnt. There are plenty of people in this world who deserve much more sympathy then these two idiots do.

Well riding a quad on a main line at 4 in the A.M. is not an innocent pastime
in my book that act is criminal & could have killed the train driver. I feel no remorse for the two, whose background will soon be known.

Usually tresspass falls under civil law however with the railways its classed as criminal and the police can prosecute you for it.

No it was 5L43 Canton - Cheltenham and was 158, think it was 824. Was on the morning shift this morning.

Trespass. I agree railways have by laws, but it is a grey area, I can not recall BT Police ever taking anyone to court, I suppose like these two dead alleged Cardiff thieves most who trespass are killed.

I am sure Both Police forces know the score about this pair,all will become clear when they catch the other alleged thieves , CCTV shows heavy quad bikes ram raiding the store.

Saw this in the metro today, as soon as I read it I said, "i see someone else has removed themselfs from the gene pool"
Its the driver and NR workers I feel sorry for, having to clean up after those 2 idiots

to be honest they should have knowen the consiquence for their actions, like the one kid that was killed in the depot, or the one vandallising the bridge
