If there's no market here for secondhand artic buses, why not shorten the bus into a normal rigid 2-axle bus by joining the front half of the front section to the rear, powered section?

Surprised that Dublin Bus actually spray painted over their logos - despite having a very distinctive livery which even I recognise*!

*okay, the bus I get to school (company with one route + one bus) is ex-Dublin Bus and that's how I know - the front door (the bus seems to have lost the centre door on the way from Dublin to here!) is still in the livery and on the roof the paint is coming off to reveal yellow :P (there is also the 'eye spy camera' and the €500 fine sign - there used to be an advert for irish water but that went soon after the bus arrived!

Would be good if NCT could acquire some for the Unilink 4, it could do with a frequency upgrade but as far as I know the artic fleet already requires 100% availability for normal daily service.

They're only 11 years old! Are they being broken up (if unsold) for a reason?

Why did NCT pull them off the 58? They could be reinstated, but then seeing that they're content with buying new buses fat chance they'll be remotely interested.

Same applies to TB, although they could upgrade R5 (indigo) capacity-wise if they can cut out some awkward bits along the route.

Leicester's 47/48 could do with some capacity enhancement during rush-hours but Arriva will probably have plenty of cascades ready from London when the 29 and 73 are converted should there ever be a plan.

I think NCT will buy the ex Reading Transport Scania n94ud Omnidekkas from Nigel Mcree.
2x 54 plates
12x 06 plates

same bodywork , plus they want rid of all the tridents by 2011.

Also has the National Development Plan logo intact (so was state funded). Dublin is pretty much all Volvo ALX400 with a few Enviros/Geminis, the Luas has recently been extended IIRC so less need for a 18m people mover when you have 40-45m ones!

Unpopular with passengers or something, the ones that were used on the 58 are now on Unilink 4 which they are ideal for, given how busy it gets at peak time (which occurs every hour!).

IIRC NCTX have enough omnidekkas on order to replace all tridents except 666-668 by October!

The 4 doesn't need a frequency upgrade does it? It is busy during the peaks because of the schools on Wilford Lane, but is it that busy during the middle of the day??

Also, the bendys weren't suited to the 58 due to the narrow roads in Killisick (sp)

It is very busy at xx03 from Clifton and for arrivals between xx30 and xx50 due to increased numbers of students travelling from the City campus to Clifton, it just about works but a frequency upgrade would certainly help the overcrowding.

The 1A would help in the mornings if NCT & drivers could decide whether it is a normal bus or a non stop school bus! Although overcrowding on Wilford lane buses isn't as bad recently in mornings

The 1A always sails past when I'm waiting at Trent Bridge, not sure if that's because it's already full or because it's a non stop school bus!

Cut-n-shut buses! Anyone else know why this is a bad idea?

Its never full (as in really full), the drivers just never stop as I *think* the bus is in a rush to get to Nobel Road to work the 48 back to town

Is the plan that the Tridents would go to other Transdev operations? Or be sold on the open market?

Do they get cascaded? Transdev only has a minority share in NCT so not sure if they get a real say in what happens in any serious capacity.

No, the ones that have all ready gone have been sold to other operators. Marshalls of Sutton-on-trent have at least one, and so does Ensign bus for selling them on

That's why I was asking; its not as simple as First/Stagecoach cascading buses (due to Transdev's minority share)

Cheers

They're still relatively young (compared to some double deckers in the UK), and a lot of fleets still have step-entrance buses - I'd imagine there'd be some demand for them

There seems to be a significant demand for Dennis Tridents at the moment, especially as the earliest examples start to depart from London and other large fleets. Increasingly, councils are specifying low-floor and Euro 3 compliant vehicles - even for closed school contracts, so independent operators are wise to invest in such vehicles while there are plenty available.

I think you mean the 11. I am so p***** off about this. Not only are Versas crap buses, not only are they way to small for the route, the omnicity's were great buses and quite hellfire(!)

Those Versas are rubbish, not surprised you don't want them! Hopefully some of these new Solo SRs will come onto the 5/7/8/9, although I'm likely to have moved out of West Bridgford by then!

Some of new Versas are destined for west bridgford this year and some are apparently for the 15 & 16?!

The West Bridgford solos are getting on a bit, and the 5 could do with a better service.

Well it turns out that these these on the 6 are being replaced with these from the 21 which in turn are being replaced with these these.

So every route is getting a smaller bus

These are being replaced with these., although there will be a frequency upgrade apparently

NCT actually **** me off so much.

Sadly there simply isn't any demand for 'bendies in the UK at the moment. First have withdrawn their initial batch of T registered Wright Renown (or was the bendy version called something else?!) bodied Volvo artics, which started off the bendy revolution up in Manchester. First started all this off, suggesting that 'deckers were outdated and this was the way forward. Many voiced concerns about the lack of comfort (with more passengers standing than seated) and their unsuitability on twisty, bumpy UK city centre roads. First pressed ahead anyway and have ended up with a fleet of very pricey vehicles which now have hardly any value. Some of the later examples have been moved about all over the place trying to find somewhere to use them, without much success. It seems the last hurrah of the bendies was their introduction in London, which of course also ended in tears
