Theft from Railways

Came across a guy in a pub who claimed he was stealing bearing from a presvered railway. He claimed a jack and a spanner was all he needed there only being four bolts to undo. I am aware of the railway concerened (or so he claimed) if you need more info plz PM me.

Please try to stop this happening if you can. What sells for scrap value is often worth many times more in labour and can be very difficult to replace. The GlosWarks had a break-in a couple of years ago. Metal items were stolen including a steam loco brake ejector. A lot of man hours had gone into machining the casting and assembling the many intricate parts and it was a lot of trouble to replace it. Fortunately the insurance company paid out on this occasion.

Sadly this seems to happen alot, I am aware in recent years the GCR, KESR & KWVR were affected by theft and or vandalism.

Dont bother using 101, I tried to use it a couple of weeks ago and after I gave them the basic details (hit and run RTA with the reg number, make, model and colour all known) I was put on hold, after 25 minutes of being on hold I gave up.

I wonder why reported crime is going down! :roll:
