Interesting piece in the Sunday Times about the UK taking so long to build stuff. You will have to sign up to read it. I read the actual newspaper.

That is a truly disappointing article, riddled with errors, which totally fails to bring any points of real sustinance, lightly grazes or avoids the most valid ones, and ends with what seems to be an advertisement for the Labour Party (Who would've thought!)

It totally fails to even mention the word 'inflation' in the article, nor does it once mention the difference between an initial estimate and the final funding, over a decade apart, with a pandemic which has exponentially expanded construction costs through the costs of raw materials alone.

It does briefly graze upon the major reason UK projects are so expensive planning, but then goes on to push Labout manifesto claims, which eliminated any points I was going to give the article.

The aim of the article seems just to be to drag the construction industry and the tories names through the mud (The latter perhaps justified, the second not so much). I think particularly the blaming on subcontracting, a claim which is listed first, yet no explanation or evidence is offered.
