The words on railcard disappear...

The black printed words on my 16-25 railcard just disappeared. It never gets wet or exposed to the sun, and always be protected well. Now the card is just like a "blank" one without any black ink that can extremely hardly identify the period of validity, card number etc.

What should I do? Will the ticket inspectors accept/recognise it?(my photo, name and birthday are still clear since they are handwriting)

Any station should be able to replace the faded railcard with a fresh one free of charge - see this FAQ on the railcard website.

Strictly speaking a blank Railcard is not valid, it's almost certainly not your fault it happened and no-one will blame you for it, but because some people would take advantage oof less strict rules, they have to be strict.

If the Railcard was bought at a station, take it to any open railway ticket office and they can issue a new one to replace the faded one. You may have a short form to fill out, but normally it will all be done in a matter of minutes.

If the Railcard was bought online, you will need to get in contact with the Railcard people.

You will not be charged for the replacement Railcard and it will expire when your faded one expires. If the date is not readable, you might wish to take the receipt with you to prove when the Railcard is valid 'til.

I had the same problem with a Network Railcard, and as hairyhandedfool mentioned it was replaced with no fuss and no charge at Basingstoke Station.
