Well I did say "for now"...

Despite it leading to a lack of sleep, we decide to travel early on the 0708 WAG Express. We alight at Shrewsbury at 0809 on Friday morning.

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
What wonderful timing that last journey was and we decide to make a railway journey to remember, so after purchasing some "refreshments" from the station café, we board the Welsh version of The Orient Express that is the 0900 ATW "Heart of Wales" service to Swansea, passing our favourite metropolis that is Sugar Loaf (waving to a couple of foxes) and we arrive there at 1304 on Friday afternoon..

You were too late with that one, we've already gone to York, then Leeds via Harrogate, which is where were at, at 9:08 saturday morning

This provides a good connection for a train to the lovely market town of Skipton. This involves jumping on Northern's 2H26 departure at 0926, arriving at Skipton at 1011 on Saturday morning, the perfect time for a cuppa me thinks :)

This time we do take enough time to get that cuppa; we then take a bit more time for the benefit of those in our entourage who have not visited the Great Border City.

We then continue the great adventure on First Scotland East's bus route X95, which gets us to Galashiels Bus Station. This leaves Carlisle (English Street) at 1610 and arrives at 1805 on Saturday evening.

Edinburgh is a city better explored during the daytime, so we decide to leave it for another day, and leave the capital after a hearty meal on First ScotRail's 2307 service to North Berwick, arriving at 2350 on Saturday night.
