We decide to use one of First TPE's new-fangled 4-coach units that seem to be remorselessly drawn to the delight that is Wigan North-Western railway station before carrying onwards to Preston () so we board the 1416 First TPE service to Penrith (North Lakes) that arrives there at 1554 on Friday afternoon.

We take the 1603 Stagecoach X4 service for the short ride to Penrith Bus station, arriving at 1610 Friday afternoon

We next head westwards into the land of the fells and becks and board the 1615 Stagecoach in Cumbria service X5 to Bassenthwaite (High Side Farm) that arrives there at 1723 on Friday afternoon.

Unfortunately, there are no more southbound trains now from Lockerbie until the next day, so we then wait until Saturday and board 1M07, the 0725 Virgin Trains service to Warrington Bank Quay, arriving there at 0919 on Saturday morning (there is a 2230 service to Edinburgh, but do I have to go on this?)

PS: Sorry about all the colour, I love my art and colour and I wanted to fit in with Virgin's colour scheme! Obviously if there are any really bright colours I shall avoid using them!)

The only thing is though, is that this game is no longer becoming a freedom of choice. The rules might as well just say 'you have to take this service only'.

Zoe - can you decide on the current matter please. There is only one service left from Lockerbie (the 2230 to Edinburgh) - do I HAVE to go on this service? As technically this game is just turning into what we're being told to travel on otherwise.

You may not wait more than two hours after the first available service so if there are no other services within the 2 hours after the 2230 then you have to take it. However we are actually still under HOLD conditions at Keswick Bus Station at 1912 on Friday since High Dyke has not yet responded to the hold called by dzug2.

If it is believed that a post is not valid then a hold should be requested by posting HOLD HOLD HOLD and a reference to the post in question. Once a hold has been requested no further moves should be posted until the hold is cleared.

If there is no departure in the direction you want to go within 2 hours (plus normally 5 minutes MCT) but there is a departure somewhere you must take that somewhere bus/train

At least that's how I understand it. The game is constrained both by the rules and the timetables.

Personally i'd have to agree with Paul regarding the actual move. It does seem ludicrous we have to go backwards in order to go forwards. Still rules are rules. Luckily i didn't terminate my journey in the previous village...else it would've meant a wait of over two hours for an onward service... In view of the 'open floor' declared we continue by boarding the 21:59 Stagecoach in Cumbria X5 service to Stainton Methodist Church arriving at 22:45 on Friday.

The two hour clock only starts at the time of the first available departure having allowed for the 5 minute minimum connection time. If the first possible service is the 2159 then that's when the clock starts and you can then wait until 2359 for a service to another destination.

This is exactly the position I was in at Lockerbie. I feel that this game's rules just do not work with timetables also. It's being taken far too seriously and as I said before it's no longer a freedom of choice but seems to be turning into more of a set route to be honest, which is not the objective of the game. Sorry to say this, but it's true.

This was always the intention from when the game was started. I do allow two hours from the time of the first available service (not the prevous arrival time) and although there are times when there is only one possible move, most of the time there is a choice of services.

Most of the time yes, however in my case of Lockerbie it meant I HAD to take the 2230 to Edinburgh, even if I wanted to go southbound, which meant I had no choice.

Beforehand, there never used to be a two hour maximum rule.

I do like this game, it's probably my favourite one on the entire forum, but I think some discretion should be allowed in such cases such as the one I had at Lockerbie.

There are now definitely no more buses until Saturday morning, so we board the 0515 service X5 operated by Stagecoach Cumbria, to Penrith (Railway Station), arriving there at 0649 on Saturday morning.
