To clarify the weather situation, a normal timetable applies in this game. The rules have bee updated so that this is clear.

We have a long wait - but just within the rules - for Stagecoach in Portsmouth's 38 departure from outside the station, leaving at 1131. We travel to Sheet Half Moon, arriving at 1224 Tuesday afternoon

If there is a new timetable today (and it doesn't seem to be on Stagecoach's site nor on Traveline SW or SE) then it's likely that my move was invalid as it used the 1 September 2013 version.

I downloaded the pdf from the Stagecoach web site and the timetable date that I quoted was clearly shown. However, the service that you quoted in your posting was still in a valid time slot and as such, you are free to make the next move onwards from here.

I remain flummoxed.

The only timetables I can find for the 38 (including a download from Stagecoach's site this morning) are dated 1 September and do not include your 1323 departure from Sheet

Still, we decide to travel onwards from the Square, on Emsworth and District's 54 departure at 1422, riding to Chichester Cathedral, arriving at 1518 on Tuesday afternoon

HOLD HOLD HOLD
I can't find a timetable on the Stagecoach website dated 6 January 2014. The only timetable that seems to be available is dated 1 September 2013 and had departures from Sheet Half Moon to Petersefield at 1224 and 1424. I also can't find a 1323 departure on traveline. This hold has been called to give time to find the correct timetable.

Oh dear...that timetable (normal Stagecoach timetable layout) that I viewed was dated 6th January...but 2013 and not 2014.

Once again, I have caused consternation on a quiz...:roll:

Therefore, the incorrect posting has now been struck through.

This appears to be the posting that the next one should be made to follow-on from.

Despite being tempted by a pint at The Square Brewery, we hop onto the comfortable-sounding Velvet Bus route 67 at 15:30, in the direction of Winchester. We alight at Petersfield Railway Station at 15:32.

HOLD HOLD HOLD There is an earlier bus from The Square to Petersfield station (the Emsworth & District 92) which you are required to take but although traveline says it departs at 1423, the Emsworth & District timetable says it departs at 1428. I'm not sure which timetable we should take as correct.

As the E&D website doesn't seem to be working at the mo we could just run with the Traveline times?

If you go the Emsworth and District web site, whilst indeed it is going under maintenance at present, there is still a section that gives a link to another site that has timetable information.

On the timetable that shows the 92 bus service (that is dated 2nd September 2013), it shows a 1428 departure from Petersfield, The Square and an arrival at 1432 at Petersfield railway station.

Yes, it's working again - earlier I coulnd't access it at all.

Well we will presume that their own website is correct and, while waiting for the 67, we happily see the 92 pull in at 15:28. Saving ourselves a few minutes, we arrive at Petersfield rail station at 15:30, if everyone is OK with that?

The above move at 1528 wouldn't be valid in any case as there is a bus at 1423/1428 (depending on the timetable) but we are still at are under HOLD conditions so we remain at Petersfield (The Square) and no further moves should be posted. I would like to allow some time for discussion on which timetables should take prescedence where the company website contradicts traveline so so the HOLD will remain in effect until I post RESUME following this discussion.

Ok I shall strike out my posting, sorry
Yes. I have updated the rules to clarify the situation regarding holds so that it is clear that when there is a query like this then the HOLD will remain in effect until this is resolved.

OK - No worries. I'm only a very occasional frequenter of the quiz section so I'll let more established players make a call on this one!

A difficult one - operators' timetables tend to be less detailed than Traveline ones and occasionally have different names for stops

I suspect traveline ones are more definitive, being (I'm guessing) based on the official registration of the routes rather than the operator's distillation of that info.

Game moves

Holds
If it is believed that a post is not valid then a hold should be requested by posting HOLD HOLD HOLD and a reference to the post in question. Once a hold has been requested no further moves should be posted until the hold is cleared.

A hold is considered cleared when:-

1. The original poster and person calling the hold reach agreement over the validity of the post and if necessary, the author of the original poster corrects their submission. The caller may then clear the hold they called by posting RESUME. If this is not done within 24 hours then an adjudication will be made. Should the original poster elect to strike through their post then all moves following shall be null and void. The original poster must then either post a new move or declare open floor in which case the game will RESUME from the last valid move. If a HOLD is called due to an unclear situation (for example contradictory timetables) or a rules query then the HOLD will remain in effect until the caller or Zoe has posted RESUME.

2. An adjudication is made by Zoe in which case RESUME will be posted by Zoe with details on where the game will continue from.

Is there any specific minimum/maximum period of time that has to elapse between points (1) and (2) above ?

We find ourselves in such a situation at the present time.

I wanted to allow 24 hours to give an opportunity for people to join the discussion. I will go with the only suggestion given and state that the traveline site takes prescedence. The game will now RESUME from Petersfield (The Square) at 1413 on Tuesday with cuccir having priority to post the next move until 2200 after which time it becomes open floor.

The floor is now open, so I propose Velvet's 67 departure at 1430 to New Alresford Perins School arriving at 1514 Tuesday afternoon;
