We witness the departure of both the train we arrived upon and one in the opposite direction. We have about an hour to wait before our next available service. We board the 21:23 TPE service and alight at Dalton arriving at 22:03 on Saturday evening.

Having spent the night in an undisclosed manner, we investigate trains next morning - and find none until afternoon

We find a Stagecoach Cumberland town service bus running, at 1007, from Holker Street (Railway Station), which we take to Barrow Town Hall, arriving at 1010 Sunday morning

Do you mean Thirlmere, Kings Head Hotel? I cant find any location of Thirlspot.

If so, we wait for an hour and board the following Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancashire 555 service at 15:42 and travel to its end at Keswick, Bus Station, arriving at 15:57 Sunday afternoon.

HOLD HOLD HOLD

Thirlspot is a timing point in the (online version of) the printed Stagecoach timetable - its precise location I don't know

The version I'm looking at shows a 2 hour wait for the next bus to Keswick so you can't leave there at the time stated - only at 1642. Or in the other direction at 1538

I checked Traveline web site (which I've just done again now) and the only place it lists under the 555 timetable is Thirlmere, Kings Head. Theres no mention of a Thirlspot. The times you provided for your journey from Kendal bus station to Thirlspot, Kings Head are the same as those shown on Traveline web site for Thirlmere, Kings Head.

It seems one web site contradicts another with this. Google maps does not show Thirlspot but the Streetmap web site (which uses Ordnance Survey maps as is base) does. The Kings Head does appear to be near by but I can't find a bus stop serving it, which may suggest why Traveline doesn't show it either.

As dzug2 says, the online timetable for the 555 on Stagecoach's web site shows Thirlspot, Kings Head as a timing point. It also shows the service to run every 2 hours through out. My journey on from Thirlmere, Kings Head to Keswick, Bus Station used the times shown on Traveline. It shows the times for this Sunday (1st December) as every 2 hours between Lancaster and Kendal with an hourly service between Kendal and Keswick.

The only thing I can think of doing is for me to amend my journey to fit in with the times shown on the Stagecoach timetable. I'll hold off on resuming the game to allow other people to read this and say what they think.

I think the name of the stop has been satisfactorily resolved - we were referring to the same place

The timetable is more of a poser.

Traveline Northeast and Cumbria and Stagecoach say the service runs every two hours in a service that was revised on 4 November

Traveline North West says it's hourly

BUT - there is a note SUM at the head of the Traveline Northwest TT- ie SUMMER - on the 1542 departure

the explanation of the note says Operates between the Monday following the end of the Spring School term
That's it - no and or final date

I'd say the northwest site has it wrong

I think on a previous occasion is was ruled that the operator's printed timetable took precedence and I'm happy to go with that if you are.

My input would be to be aware that Sunday 1st December has to be the chronological day that the next journey onwards will be made and such a journey must adhere to the timetable that is ruling on that date.

I had not noticed the SUM at the head of the Traveline timetable for curtain journeys. But as you say the explanation for it is a little vague with no end/final date.

I'm happy to go with the Stagecoach timetable for this.

I'm not 100% sure on who calls resume at this point. From what I can work out from the rules, the person who called the hold has to do so. Unless I’m reading it wrong?

If you agree with the person who called the hold that your previous post should not be valid then the game can RESUME by you striking through and posting a new move.

There's at least one bus service available on Sunday evening

I would beg to differ. Having trawled through every bus timetable shown for Workington Bus Stn i can find no other service after the previous arrival time (20:52 on a Sunday evening). Any suggestion would be welcomed so that the game may continue.

Is there not a 2132 Stagecoach in Cumbria service 301 to Whitehaven that leaves Workington bus station on Sunday evening ?

That's the one I was thinking of. There's choices on where to get off it
I apologise for the oversight. Something more important cropped up at the time.

I have now struck through my previous posting and the game may resume. Someone else may post the next onward move. The last valid move was:
We continue on the last Stagecoach in Cumbria service of the day, the X5 again, at 2024 and travel to Workington, Bus station arriving at 2052 Sunday evening
