This affords us the opportunity to see some of the local area, so we board the 1430 Red Rose Travel service 387 to Wigginton Bottom (Chesham Road) that arrives there at 1438 on Saturday afternoon.

We wait for the 387 bus to return from Beech Park at 1459 and take it to Upper Dunsley o/s Tesco, arriving at 1505 Saturday afternoon

A change of bus operator and a good long bus ride now awaits us as we board the 1533 Arriva Shires & Essex service 500 to Apsley railway station that arrives there at 1627 on Saturday afternoon.

Entering the station we see two possibilities on the timetable. The first will return us straight back to Tring, so we forsake that train. We decide to venture in the opposite direction so join the 16:38 LM service to Watford Junction arriving 16:45 on Saturday

We then board the 17:03 London Midland service to Birmingham New Street arriving there at 19:01 Saturday Evening

A move across the country sees us board the 1930 XC service t0 York that arrives there at 2144 on Saturday evening.

We then board the 22:52 East Coast service to Newcastle arriving there at 00:01 Sunday Morning

We look at what is available in the wee small hours after midnight on a Sunday morning departing from Newcastle station and it may be tiredness that affects us, but we find none, so we seek overnight accommodation with an alarm call and after a relaxing sleep, we return to board the 0755 EC service to Peterborough that arrives there at 1003 on Sunday morning.

After waiting far too long enjoying poor quality coffee at Peterborough and against our better judgement giving our last adventure in East Anglia we cannot resist the trip back across the Breckland Line, catching the 11:09 EMT service to Norwich, arriving at 1300.

As it's a Sunday we have time at Norwich before another departure. We venture out to the station forecourt, but think again about finding alternative public transport. As we re-enter the station we find a choice of seaside destination. We decide on a trip up the Bittern Line so board the 13:45 GA service to Sheringham arriving at 14:37 on Sunday afternoon.

We now take the opportunity of haulage by steam traction, as we read the time table of the North Norfolk Railway as we are on the "yellow timetable", so we board the 1500 North Norfolk Railway service to Holt that arrives there at 1523 on Sunday afternoon.

We continue at 1600 on Sanders Coaches 9 service from High Kelling opp Holt station and travel to Little Snoring adj Green Man, arriving at 1633 Sunday afternoon

We now find that we are in the position of still having an onward connection in this rural area of Norfolk, but being late on Sunday, not for three hours, so we spend the time exploring Little Snoring and its sister village of Great Snoring, before returning to The Green Man to await the last bus of the day and we board the 1933 Sanders Coaches service 9 to Fakenham (Oak Street) that arrives there at 1940 on Sunday evening.

On Monday morning we takes Sanders 9 bus service at 0725 to Briston adj Old Post Road, arriving at 0747

We are now in time to access a bus service that only runs once daily to a settlement that once was the rail transport hub for this area before the system was finally "severely pruned" many years ago so we board the 0804 Sanders Coaches service 301 to Melton Constable (opposite to the bus shelter) that arrives there at 0808 on Monday morning.

During the railway journey from Cromer yesterday we remember seeing a splendid church atop a small hill. We decide it is worth looking at; therefore we board the 08:53 Sanders Coaches 9 service and alight at Beeston Regis (opp Beeston Hall) arriving at 09:32 on monday morning

Our travelogue of Norfolk continues apace, so noting that we can abide by the minimum connection time of 5 minutes, we board the 0938 Norfolk Green Coasthopper CH3 service to Stiffkey (adj. Stores) that arrives there at 1021 on Monday morning.

Unfortunately we are 80 years too late to meet the [in]famous Revd Harold Francis Davidson, Rector of Stiffkey; so we board the 1051 Norfolk Green Coasthopper 3 from Stiffkey Stores to Wells next the Sea, where we alight at Buttlands at 1100, Monday morning.

We are now afforded enough time to take a light lunch in this coastal settlement before we make a short journey by omnibus to recreate the final part of a pilgramage taken for hundreds of years by travelling pilgrims and we board the 1200 Norfolk Green Coasthopper CH2 service to Little Walsingham (The Bull) that arrives there at 1214 on Monday afternoon.

We hope that the Wells and Walsingham Light Railway station is not too long a walk to be within the rules so return to Wells on the 1245 departure arriving at 1315 Monday afternoon

Walking

You may not walk between stations of the same mode although you may walk to a different bus stop at the same location for example by crossing the road in order to travel in a different direction. You may also walk when changing modes but only to a stop serving the same location.

This is how the last revision to the rules left the matter concerning walking. How a five minute walk from a bus stop to the terminus of a heritage railway station is viewed is not stated as there is no mention of a time period of walking, but that might be my incorrect interpretation.

I will send a PM to Zoe to seek clarification and for a possible addition of "time period" in minutes to the rules.

This is how the last revision to the rules left the matter concerning walking. How a five minute walk from a bus stop to the terminus of a heritage railway station is viewed is not stated as there is no mention of a time period of walking, but that might be my incorrect interpretation.

Since the latest rules on walking were introduced a few weeks back, you can only walk between stops at the same location. There is no bus stop directly serving the heritage railway station so you may only arrive and depart from the station by rail. We remain at Little Walshingham (the Bull) at 1214 on Monday where there is a choice of two bus stops (opp and adj the Bull). dzug2 has priority for posting a new for the next hour until 1703 after which it becomes open floor.

The CH2 bus it must be then - there is no other.

We leave at 1252 and travel to Hunstanton opp Lighthouse Close, arriving at 1355 Monday afternoon

We continue to see the delights of North Norfolk by boarding the 1415 Norfolk Green Coasthopper CH2 service to Burnham Overy Staithe (Opposite the Hero on Wells Road) that arrives there at 1445 on Monday afternoon.

For our 6th ride on the Coasthopper today (and I'm sure it won't be the last) we take the CH2 at 1449 to Brancaster Staithe adj Jolly Sailors arriving at 1505 Monday afternoon

Indeed, the CH2 does have a monopoly of interesting settlements

We are informed that there is a part-route journey soon available, so we board the 1531 Norfolk Green Coasthopper CH2 service to Old Hunstanton (Post Office stop) that arrives there at 1548 on Monday afternoon.

We are just in time to see a 1547 CH2 departure speeding off in the opposite direction, so have to wait until 1617 before returning in the Wells direction

We decide to have a celebratory long run on this bus service, this time to a settlement with a bus station, so we board the 1755 Norfolk Green Coasthopper service CH2 to Hunstanton bus station that arrives there at 1854 on Monday evening.

Had it been a Friday we could have turned round and ridden the whole route again. But it's not, so we make do with Norfolk Green's service CH1 departure at 1855 to Kings Lynn railway station, arriving at 1926 Monday evening

Still Coastliner though..... I suspect it's the depot run at the end of the day
