Assuming we are at Granton-on-Spey..Saturday still offers buses onwards at this time of the day from here, so having spent some time exploring the area, we board the 1940 Stagecoach Highlands service 34 to Aviemore (MacKenzie Hotel on Grampian Road) that arrives there at 2009 on Saturday evening.

As we have already eaten we can continue onwards. Our next departure is the 17:55 Stagecoach Highlands 34 service to Kingston (Beach Road) arriving 18:32 on Saturday afternoon.

Previous journey was from Elgin Bus Station to Kingston (Beach Road). Where does Granton-on-Spey come into it?

You can blame my good lady wife for this, as she had interrupted my train of thought to discuss areas around Aviemore for one of our sons to visit on a holiday this year and Granton-on- Spey was one of the places discussed, which appears have to stuck in my mind when I returned to my study...

That posting to which you refer has been "struck-through" now.

Hee, hee. We've all done things like that. However it isn't helped that both locations have a number 34 bus.

Just to confirm that we last arrived at Kingston (Beach Road) [a.k.a. Kingston-on-Spey] @ 18:32 on Saturday.

Let us try once more....

As we have already eaten we can continue onwards. Our next departure is the 17:55 Stagecoach Highlands 34 service to Kingston-on-Spey (Beach Road) arriving 18:32 on Saturday afternoon.

We are at the terminal stop on the route and have no option but to curtail our visit there as Saturday evening is very limited in public transport options here, so we wait until the driver makes a comfort stop and goes to the turning circle at the top of the road to return to the bus stop on the other side of the road, where we board the 1840 Stagecoach Highlands service 34 to New Elgin (Edgar Road) that arrives there at 1912 on Saturday evening.

We decide to visit another local settlement. So it's all aboard the 19:48 Stagecoach Bluebird service 33A for our journey to Lossiemouth (Church Street) arriving 20:06 on Saturday

We decide to spend a little time in "The Jewel of the Moray Firth" as the tourist information describes our current location and take the walk along the waterside but all too soon, it is time to return to where we arrived as time is now drawing on and we board the 2116 Stagecoach Bluebird service 33A to Elgin bus station that arrives there at 2126 on Saturday evening.

We find somewhere to stay the night and after a full breakfast in the morning, deciding we've seen enough of Scotland for now, we head back to the station to board the 09:47 EC Northern Lights service to Kings Cross, arriving at 17:07 on Sunday

A prompt arrival into Harrogate means we have time to walk to the adjacent bus station where we catch the 21:25 Transdev in Harrogate 771 service to Thorner (Kirkfield Avenue) arriving 22:14 on Sunday.

Finding some accomodation for the night we remind ourselves off the 70s TV series Follyfoot. The nearby village of the same sounding name is the destination for our first trip of the day so we find ourselves on the 06:50 Transdev in Harrogate 770 service which drops us off outside the Harewood Arms Follifoot arriving 06:59 on Monday morning.

There isn't much happening at the NYMR station, we've arrived between departures. So we continue by bus using the 16:07 EYMS service 128 to the village of Hutton Buscel, with its Grade 1 listed church (St Matthew), arriving at 16:36 on Monday afternoon

With no further buses to Helmsley this evening we find ourselves on the opposite side of the road waiting for a bus heading east; it shouldn't be long. Sure enough the 18:55 EYMS service 128 arrives and we continue our journey alighting at Wrelton (Buck Inn) arriving at 19:16 on Monday.

Apparently the Buck Inn hosts a weekly tractor night – a “weekly convention of the tractor club where members discuss tractors, tractor accessories, swap magazines and stories” as well as whippet racing.

Imagine Victor Meldrew arriving here at this time on a Monday night, popping in The Buck for a pint, then casually asking what time the next bus in the Scarborough direction was, then of the forthcoming comment when being told there were none..."I just don't believe it". We are left with no option but to seek overnight accommodation then on Tuesday morning, we return to the bus stop and having discussed the through facility without changing at Pickering, board the 0846 EYMS service 128 to Scarborough railway station that arrives there at 0955 on Tuesday morning.

We notice a train to London leaving in 5 minutes, we run round to try and get on it, but as we arrive at the platform, we are dismayed to see it leave, But we are relieved to know there is a Slower service to St Pancras in a few minutes, so we walk round and board the 14:35 East Midlands Train service to London St Pancras International arriving there at 17:05 Tuesday Afternoon
