Fate seems to be thwarting our need to move away from Inverness as we have twice returned by rail there, so once again, we take the now well-trod route from the railway station to the bus station where we board the 2105 Stagecoach Highlands service 25A to Kildary Post Office that arrives there at 2227 on Friday evening.

Deciding to call it a night, we find a nice doorway and set up our sleeping bags, before waking up and boarding the 06:45 Stagecoach Highlands 25X bus to Inverness (Stance 6 Bus Station on Farraline Park) Arriving at 07:47 Saturday Morning

Matters are now looking like the scenes from the film "Groundhog Day" as we are yet again back in Inverness at the bus station, so we decide to find somewhere that serves a very large hot cooked breakfast and a very large beaker of tea, before returning to the bus station to board the 0940 Stagecoach Highlands service X99 to Scrabster Ferry Terminal that arrives there at 1247 on Saturday afternoon.

We walk over to see about boarding but see the ferries are delayed due to rough waters, so we return to the bus stop and board the 13:25 Stagecoach X99 Service to Suprise Suprise Inverness (Stance 1 Bus Station on Farraline Park) arriving at 16:43 Saturday Afternoon

Not only is it "Groundhog Day" once again, but it appears that you have used a "Clint Eastwood (bus with no departure time and no arrival time)" at Scrabster to journey to Inverness...

Remember that you cannot travel on a bus that you have arrived upon.

In this game you must travel from the station or stop where the previous post left you although this may involve a short walk when changing between modes for example to a bus stop serving a rail station. No getting back on the same service you have just left.

This is the extract from the quiz rules on that point.

We next decide upon a different direction to travel and to head in a westerly direction this time in order to once again move from Inverness, so after spending some time stretching our legs by seeing the local sights, then finding a restaurant in which to partake of a meal fit for a local laird, we return back to the bus station to board the 2015 Stagecoach Highlands service 19 to Fort William bus station, that arrives there at 2205 on Saturday night.

We have to wait until The Ice Centre opens its doors to the public at 0900, before we can realise our ambition to make our visit there and despite it being a Sunday, there are a good number of people there already, awaiting the opening time. We spend quite some time looking at the facilities offered (but not venturing to try any of them) and the shop offers much to encourage those not as strong-willed as us to open (and empty) their wallets and purses, but all good things have to come to an end and we make our way back to the bus stop to board the 1205 Stagecoach Highlands service 44 to Corran Ferry bus shelter that arrives there at 1237 on Sunday afternoon.

Realising Strontian is going to be difficult to get to on a Sunday, we head back up to the main road and catch the 14:37 Stagecoach service 44 from Corran Ferry, at Bus Shelter on A82 to Fort William, at Middle St Car Park on Middle Street arriving there at 14:52 on Sunday.

We decide that as it is a Sunday, we have to be very careful with times of onward omnibuses but we decide upon one that will afford us time to make a visit to Claggan Park, the home of lost causes of the Highland League (football) known as Fort William FC, so we make the 12 minute walk alongst Achinlee Road to arrive there and spend time introducing ourselves to the members of the team and the management who see any new faces as likely new additions to the team (even at the age of 67...) and I am invited to change into a training kit and am given a pair of spare boots to see how I fare. After a couple of circuits of the pitch, I am invited to make up the numbers (with the team coach) in a practice match, where I find the reason for Fort William FC being a permanent fixture every season at the bottom of their league as even I am fitter (and more skilled, being a former "midfield dynamo" of the Manchester University FC team in the 1960's in the Lancashire Amateur League) than most of those present and make matters even more bleak for the team morale of the first team members on the opposite side, by scoring no less than six goals in an 8-0 win. I refuse the immediate offer of a full-time contract to the dismay of their manager, who had taken me to be a former Polish international player he had watched as a child in a friendly match at Aberdeen. I sign all the autograph books proffered then change back into my travelling clothes and make the walk back to the town, where it is soon time to board the 1815 Scottish Citylink service 919 to Dolgarroch post office that arrives there at 1936 on Sunday evening.

Time to seek out a good restaurant to sustain us, then to see some of the historical parts of the Old Town, during which we decide to stay in Scotland and revert to onward travel by omnibus, so eventually we arrive at the bus station at the end of our perambulations where we board the 1500 Scottish Citybus service 923 to Ayr bus station that arrives there at 1715 on Monday afternoon.

Arriving at the rail station we decide we are a bit too late for the last VT service so we go to the ticket office but upon seeing a big queue find a nice cafe to find something to eat but trip over and get taken to hospital, however we are all ok, and return to the rail station in time to board the 23:40 First Scotrail Sleeper to London Euston arriving there at 06:48 Tuesday Morning

It has been a little quiet today so it's time for us to be sent to Coventry on the 0933 London Midland service, arriving at 0947 on Tuesday.
