Hello, this is my first post in this thread. All the time I have spent on RailUK and i've never looked at the quiz section!
This game is genius, I love it.

I have read through 50 of the so far 178 pages. So i'm not right upto date on everywhere that this epic tour has been.

So enough gassing lets get on with next journey for our roving mad machine...

We would love to stay and admire Redditch but our last train ride was yesterday. So a stroll across the road to Redditch railway station allows us to board the 1227 London Midland service to Lichfield Trent Valley arriving there at 1303 on Sunday afternoon

We now take a short break at Lichfield TV, before taking the 14:01 London Midland service to Alsager, arriving 14:49 on Sunday

Being a Sunday afternoon, we decide discretion is the better part of valour as regards travel by omnibus, so we choose to continue to stay in the North and to head off to a major rail interchange, so we board the 1546 LM service to Crewe that arrives there at 1601 on Sunday afternoon.

We fancy moving at speed for a bit, so continue on Virgin's 1629 service to London Euston, arriving at 1807 Sunday afternoon

Not wishing to miss the opportunity of riding the Underground on a Sunday, we make our way to the underground station and board the 1818 Victoria Line service to Vauxhall underground station that arrives there at 1845 on Sunday evening.

We catch Abellio London's 156 bus at 1901 and travel to Wimbledon station, ariving at 1931 Sunday evening

We decide to head in a northerly direction, but not before spending some time of relaxation in watching the coming and going of the trains, so we board the 2056 FCC service to Bedford that arrives there at 2250 on Sunday evening.

On arrival at Bedford, we get the shock of finding the 23:14 service for Nottingham has been cancelled, so we instead wait for the 23:50 East Midlands Trains service to Derby, arriving 01:21 Monday morning

After an uncomfortable night, mainly spent watchiing the sporadic EMA buses coming and going, we catch the 0610 XC departure to Cheltenham Spa, arriving at 0751, Monday morning

Early Monday morning, so we decide to change the mode of travel and walk from the railway station to the bus stop on St Stephens Road, where we board the 0835 Stagecoach in Gloucester service 98 to Gloucester bus station which arrives there at 0925 on Monday morning.

On arrival at Bedford, we get the shock of finding the 23:14 service for Nottingham has been cancelled, so we instead wait for the 23:50 East Midlands Trains service to Derby, arriving 01:21 Monday morning

We find Gloucester to be much to our liking and take a stroll were upon we meet a pretty girl, fall in love and plan to live our days in this wonderous place.

Alas her father is not keen on us, perhaps it was our nomad lifestyle and when he stormed off muttering something along the lines of 'Bleep Bleep... My daughter marry a wondering minstral who has done nothing for the last year except ride on buses and trains' we knew all was not well...

So we wound up frog marched to Gloucester railway station and with the cold barrel of a shotgun in the small of our back we boarded the 1046 CrossCountry service for Nottingham which we alighted at University (Birmingham) at 1139 on Monday morning

We decided to alight here so that we might learn how to avoid shotgun welding mad Gloucestershire men in the future.

The moves for this game should be based on the timetable, not any invented or actual delays. Nothing wrong with electing to travel to Derby rather than Nottingham though.

It is a move from the timetable, although I came up with a fictional reason for not taking the Nottingham train to escape the somewhat miserable Luton Parkway station.

Having forgotten our student IDs, we return to University station to take the 12:15 London Midland service to Aston, arriving 12:32 Monday

We next decide to move in a westerly direction by rail and do not have too long to wait for the 1249 LM service to Wolverhampton that arrives there at 1333 on Monday afternoon.

We make our way to the bus station to catch Arriva's 891 service at 1345 to Telford Bus station, arriving at 1437, Monday afternoon

Time for a light lunch before returning to the bus station to board the 1545 Arriva Midlands service X5 to Shrewsbury bus station that arrives there at 1615 on Monday afternoon.

We head south on the 1650 ATW service to Pembroke Dock, arriving at 2218 Monday evening

A rail journey of that length and its time of arrival are all reasons to seek out overnight accomodation with a full Welsh breakfast to sustain us for the morrow and after a really refreshing sleep followed by total ignorance of the calorific quantity contained within a rather large breakfast, we make our way to the ubiquitous Tesco that has a bus/coach stop facility and we board the 0945 National Express service 508 to Chepstow bus station that arrives there at 1340 on Tuesday afternoon.

We have time to grab some lunch before we catch the Town and Country service 69 at 1530 to Monmouth Bus Station, arriving at 1623 on Tuesday afternoon

We then board the 1705 Stagecoach Lye and Dean service 36 to Hereford railway station forecourt that arrives there at 1801 on Tuesday evening

Arriving into the pretty little town of Monmouth we take the two minute walk to Monnow Bridge and after a few pictures we partake of a quick drink in The Gate House public house.

Refreshed we walk back to the bus station and at 1705 board the final route 36 Stagecoach in Wye and Dean service to Hereford Railway Station
Arriving at 1801 on Tuesday evening



How was I? - that was my first attempt at a bus journey. Not that I had a choice, seeing that Monmouth doesn't have a railway station!
Seriously I know next to nothing about buses so this was a real challenge for me. Another fun aspect of this game

Well, I don't really know how to answer your question in the footnote of your posting, save to say that you appear to have duplicated my idea in the posting above the one that you had made. We decide to stay with rail as our mode of travel, noting the time of day, so we board the 1954 FGW service to Slough that arrives there at 2213 on Tuesday evening.

We take the short walk to Wellington Street for the 2247 departure on First Berkshire's 75 service to Heathrow Central Bus station, arriving 2314 Tuesday evening.

A quick walk to Heathrow Terminals 1, 2 & 3 sees us on the 2333 Heathrow Express to London Paddington, arriving 2347 Tuesday evening.

PS - I once asked a steward on the WAG express about the difference between a Welsh and English breakfast, and received the reply "the accent with which it's served, sir!"

Not too long to wait before boarding the 0034 FGW service to Twyford that arrives there at 0124 on Wednesday morning.

We make ourselves as comfortable as possible and wait to board the 0556 FGW service to Swansea that arrives at 0857 on Wednesday morning.

We decide the delights of Swansea can wait as we are starving.

We dive out of the station and right there in front of us is Sizzles Cafe.
A hearty breakfast is feasted upon and our hunger gone for now at least, we head back to the railway station to do some train watching.

In no time our train is pulling in and we board a Class 175 forming the 0955 Arriva Trains Wales service bound for Manchester Piccadilly which we alight from at Crewe at 1328 on Wednesday afternoon

A change of mode of travel sees us depart from the railway station and cross over the road to the historical Crewe Arms Hotel which has the bus stop adjacent to it and we only wait a matter of minutes before we board the 1343 Arriva North West service 38 to Macclesfield bus station that arrives there at 1453 on Wednesday afternoon.
