We take the 19:35 Stagecoach Manchester route X57 to Wilmslow Road, outside Didsbury Co-op, arriving 19:44 Friday

We cross over the road and soon board the 2002 Stagecoach Manchester service 42 to Stockport bus station that arrives there at 2020 on Friday evening.

Time to head off to the "big city" and we board the 2058 Stagecoach Manchester service 192 to Manchester Piccadilly bus station that arrives there at 2132 on Friday night.

We decide that we want to leave before all the people who stay for a drink after work decide to go home. We take the 21:35 Stagecoach Manchester route 104 to Wythenshawe Hospital, arriving at 22:30 Friday

Friday night is always a busy night at the A & E department at Wythenshawe Hospital and we pop inside to get a hot drink from the vending machines and pass away the time until it is time to go back to the bus stop and board the 2315 Arriva service 19 to Manchester Airport bus station that arrives there at 2325 on Friday night.

We grab a bite to eat in the terminal, then arrive at the station in good time for the 00:38 train to York arriving at 02:45 on Saturday Morning!

Very little in the way of available onward services, so we board the 0352 First TPE service to Leeds that arrives at 0434 on Saturday morning.

We decide we'd like an HST ride, so catch the 0600 XC train to Newton Abbott, arriving 1109 Saturday morning

After that long journey by train, we decide to stretch our legs and walk to the bus stop on Sherborne Road, where we board the 1145 Country Bus service 177 to Totnes (Coronation Road) that arrives there at 1220 on Saturday afternoon.

We have time for some lunch before catching First's X81 service at 1315 from the Royal Seven Stars to Dartmouth Pontoon, arriving 1400 Saturday

We walk to the Dartmouth Lower ferry point and board the 1415 river ferry to Kingswear Lower ferry terminal that arrives at 1420 on Saturday afternoon.

A day with a difference with a river ferry crossing and a heritage steam railway so far so we make our way to the bus stop and wait for the 1615 Stagecoach Devon service 88 to Buckfastleigh (Woodholme Car Park) that arrives at 1703 on Saturday afternoon.

Your suppositions indeed are correct and two heritage railway journeys on a Saturday are enough for all but the most hardened enthusiast, so it is time to look for a bus to take us to a large city which can offer good onwards connections and we join a group of railway enthusiasts and walk to the connectional bus stop and eventually, we all board the 1900 Stagecoach Devon service X64 to Exeter bus station that arrives at 2005 on Saturday evening.

We walk to Exeter Central Station and catch the 2030 SWT departure, which terminates at Basingstoke at 2307 on Saturday evening

Not too long to wait as we board the 2337 FGW service to Reading that arrives at 0001 on Sunday morning.

We catch an FGW train at 0020 to Oxford, arriving at 0105, Sunday morning

That arrival time leaves us no option but to see the night through on the station until it is time to board the 0815 FGW service to Didcot Parkway that arrives there at 0819 on Sunday morning.

We head for Wales on the FGW departure at 0934, reaching Cardiff Central at 1051, Sunday morning

there was the possibility of the Oxford tube to London which runs 24x7

Not long to wait until we board the 1135 ATW service to Wilmslow that arrives at 1446 on Sunday afternoon.

No need to rush in our haste to escape from the capital city, so once again we seek a northbound service in a different direction and definitely of a less prestigious nature and we board the 1734 LM stopping train service to Marston Green that arrives there at 1950 on Sunday evening.

Onwards now by rail, after entering the railway station, as we board the 2128 Chiltern service to Leamington Spa that arrives there at 2153 on Sunday night.

We get the 2212 Cross Country service to Birmingham International, arriving there at 2232 Sunday evening

Good timing to schedule on that last train enables us the time we need to board the 2240 ATW service to Crewe that arrives at 2355 on Sunday night.

We decide to call it a night and head for a hotel.

We return to the station to take the 06:33 Northern Service to Heald Greenm, arrivng 07:20 Friday

Well, I just do not know what to do now.....hock:

We arrived at Crewe at 2355 on Sunday....then it appears we booked into a hotel....but there must have been a sudden outbreak of Rip Van Winkle Syndrome afflicting Crewe that night, as the stated next journey from Crewe did not arrive at Heald Green nearly five days later on Friday morning.

Surely the next journey must arrive on Monday at Heald Green
