We are fortunate to avail ourself of an onward service at this time of the day without too much of a wait and board the 0042 FCC service to Three Bridges that arrives at 0302 on Friday morning.

An early morning run to the coast sees us board the 0512 FCC service to Brighton that arrives there at 0530 on Friday morning.

We wait out the minimum connection time before boarding the 05:44 Southern service to Hove, arriving 05:48 Friday morning

We take the 1741 FGW departure for the short ride to Ascott under Wychwood, arriving at 1802 Friday evening

We take the first train of the day eastwards and board the 0903 FGW service to Slough that arrives there at 1009 on Saturday morning.

We take the FGW branch train to Windsor and Eton Central, leaving at 1017 and arriving at 1023 Saturday morning

I'd intended to strand us at Ascott until Monday morning but was foiled by the extra stops on December Saturdays for Christmas shoppers

After much heartsearching and research into onward connection times from the station, we reluctantly decide to return from whence we came and board the 1047 FGW service to Slough that arrives there at 1053 on Saturday morning.

Back to the Cotswolds on the FGW 1139 departure to Asc... no, Evesham, arriving at 1320 Saturday afternoon

A visit next to a noted seat of learning sees us board the 1330 FGW service to Oxford that arrives at 1427 on Saturday afternoon.

A change of operator sees us on the 1457 Chiltern service to Bicester Town arriving at 1522 Saturday afternoon

Finding little of interest here we make a swift departure on the next available train, the 15:28 Chiltern Railways service to Oxford arriving 15:54 on Saturday afternoon.

This time there is no weekend escape until Monday morning, so after taking advantage of a weekend break facility of a local hostelry, we return to the railway station to continue our area settlement travelogue and board the 0743 FGW service to Finstock that arrives there at 0752 on Monday morning.

Luckily Finstock is better served with buses than trains so we don't have to wait for the evening return working from Oxford

We take the Stagecoach in Oxfordshire X9 service opposite the 'station' at 0813 and travel to Witney Market Square, arriving at 0845 Monday morning

We decide to make the journey to the other end of the route so we next board the 0900 Stagecoach in Oxfordshire service X9 to Chipping Norton (West Street) that arrives there at 0945 on Monday morning.

We continue on Stagecoach Warwickshire service 50 at 1005 to Long Compton, adj Church, arriving at 1016 Monday morning

Here we again find ourselves in a village settlement at the extreme south of Warwickshire that is not noted for much in the way of daily bus services and a long wait ensues in which we take time to visit the 13th century church of St Peter and St Paul then after a gentle stroll around the village and partaking of afternoon tea, we retrace our steps to the bus stop next to the church and eventually we board the 1513 Stagecoach Warwickshire service 50 (and the driver warns us that this particular service terminates in a different street than normal) to Stratford-upon-Avon (Bridge Street) at 1546 on Monday afternoon.

We continue from Bridge Street on Johnsons of Henley service 21 at 1645 and travel to Broadway Lygon Arms, arriving at 1737 on Monday afternoon

Not too long to wait until we board the 1745 Castleways Buses service 606 to Cheltenham (Royal Wells bus station) that arrives there at 1827 on Monday evening.

We now take Pulhams 801 service at 1845 and ride to Cheltenham General Hospital A&E where we arrive at 1850 Monday evening

We next take a short omnibus ride with a larger operator and board the 1920 Stagecoach in Cheltenham service 99 to Cheltenham (Clarence Parade) that arrives there at 1925 on Monday evening.

We continue on the next 99 half an hour later for the nonstop ride to Cheltenham Racecourse P&R arriving at 2005 Monday evening

Since we have just arrived on the last bus of the day, we resign ourselves to an overnight stay and we then board the 0620 Stagecoach in Cheltenham service 99 to Cheltenham (Beechwood Road) that arrives there at 0625 on Tuesday morning.
